I didn't know where else to post this, and I figured that the tranny masters of NECO would know better than anyone.

Have you EVER heard of the rev limiter on the car just....disappearing??? I know this is highly coincidental, but I removed my dash to do so repainting to it, and since then, my revs can exceed the previous ceiling of 7000. I know for a fact that I am not hitting it, cuz I threw the car in diagnostics for a test, and watched the rpms spike over 7k with no limitation. I didn't want to continue the experiment due to the fact that it could hurt the car.

It doesn't seem like it, but could this be indictitive of a problem? Has this happened before <searchs on neco turned up nothing>? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you unplugged something when you took the dash apart and didn't plug it back in when you put the dash back together. If you didn't unplug anything, then I'm clueless.

I remembered one time when I threw my atx down to first gear right after i started up and wasnt thinking and the tach was all the way over to 8500 and the engine sounded so bad.

I instantly let off the gas and put it into drive and pulled off and got out and looked at the engine and it looked fine.

It was bad to do that in the first place but especially bad since the engine was cold.

I've never tried it again but thats how I went past rev limiter, but I dunno about your situation.

CatMan may be right..

Are you doing this while in neutral and sitting still? Or are you able to get this while actually driving and hitting the rev limiter (1st/2nd gears)?? If you in neutral and sitting still, maybe the ECU will allow such reving since your not under load? If your driving and noticing this, I dont know what to say.. Lucky you.. hehe
