...IN MY SATURN!

Sorry, not a Cougar anecdote, but still. Not sure if the guy was playing with me or not- but I can't believe that he was.

There's this intersection near my house. 2-lane road becomes a 4-lane road for about 1/8 of a mile, then a stoplight. Then on the other side of the light, the 4-lane becomes 2-lane in another 1/8th. Usually there's a line of traffic at the red, but no one goes to the outside lane because they all know it ends immediately. But I came to the light tonight, a long line of trucks and vans waiting at the red. So I go around into the short lane to get by the stopped traffic. Normally it's a UPS truck at the front of the line or something, so you can easily avoid being stuck in traffic with a quick merge. Truck, truck, van, taurus, station wagon, and at the front of the line is a red Integra (it was dark, so I don't know the specs- just that it was a late model; it had the same tail lights as the one in FnF). I figure this guy'll blast off and leave me to deal with merging before he lets me pass him from the red. So light turns green, and I just take it easy, figure I'll let him go. He doesn't. So I say, screw it, and step on it. And lo and behold, so does he. So I just lay into the little 1.9, bark in 1st, pull, pull, bark in 2nd; and by the top of 2nd, I'm a car length and a half out, and I merge, baby. Close, but it was my frickin SATURN, man! My little twin-cam 4-banger.

All I can figure is that he was driving an auto, or he didn't know how to shift. But I was stoked. A MTX 'teggy spanked my Cougar a few weeks ago.

He he he, maybe your Saturn will spank the Cougar too, sine it beat a teggy, you'd think it would be faster :cover: j/k
Good kill!

I wish I could race myself...:)

But dude, I had no idea that Saturn was so quick off the line. The curb weight on a MTX SL2 is less than 2400 lbs, so 124 HP is WAY adequate to throw that weight around. Love that plastic...

A friend got in a fight with a stop sign with his saturn, and needless to say, the stop sign was the last on standing, tok the front end off his Saturn, kinda looked like a warm knife through butter. I'll see if I can find the pics when I get home
