View Full Version : Waco meet ideas?

Alright, it seems like a fair number of people are okay with doing a Waco meet, and I'm fine with that. :) Now, other than Sunni's idea of a BBQ, what else do we want to do? Waco is a decent place to hang out and drive around a little bit, but beyond that, It's no Dallas or Austin. We've got the usual movie theatres, pool halls, bars (although I'm not eligible for another 19 days, and num1goalie is SOL), a few historical things to see, the Dr. Pepper Museum, etc. If you've got ideas other than that, let's hear 'em. :)
Now, the date. What's good for everyone? Sunni, you seem to have the most going on as far as scheduling conflicts, so what works for you? Let's get this rolling so we have more than a week's notice, and thus (hopefully), a big turnout.

Don't look at me....I'm unemployed! :cover:
I am busting my butt to make sure I have the money to go to CF, job hunting and what not
But currently, the only thing I have planned is CF.
I would be SOL on the bars thing too...I just turned 18 not long ago
I'd say a week or two after cougarfest would be a good time for a meet...what does everyone else think?

As of 3:15 Monday afternoon, I'm w/o a ride. Some jackass ran a red light and broadsided me. Hit me behind the driver's door. Rear quarterpanel damage, and the left rear wheel is angled in -- if it were a front wheel, it looks like it's making a right turn. It's at the body shop now, I should know more tomorrow or the next day.

Sorry to hear that. I wish red light running was enforced more. I constantly see people running them BAD.

I'm sorry to hear that too, monogodo!
I just got my car back today. FINALLY!
I agree with Alan a week or two after would get more people, possibly.
I don't know much else to do in Waco other than waste a sh!t load of gas driving up and down Valley Mills.
Thats the hot thing to do on a friday or saturday night. Anyone with a nice car is usually there. Alot of times there will be about 20 mustangs running around together or 20 cameros running around together. But its fun cause everyone is hanging out the windows yelling at each other and racing each other.

As far as dates go, I can't go if we have a meet on July 27 or August 10.
So we need to figure out a date to meet.
How about the saturday on August 17. We still need to find out something to do!

Well, I think we're still planning on doing a cookout with Sunni's many pounds of steak at Cameron Park (2nd largest inner city park in the nation behind Central Park). We can take some nice backdropped pictures there, and then maybe go on a little cruise in and around Waco. Beyond that, I'm taking suggestions. We've got a lot of the usual stuff (pool halls, movie theatres, putt putt place, etc.), but nothing that's really distinctly "Waco." We do have some cool Waco restaurants that we can eat at should we decide against the BBQ, too.
EDIT: Just thought of something distinctly Waco, however lame it may be. We DO have the Dr. Pepper Museum, Texas Ranger Hall of Fame, and a couple other Halls of Fame. ;) Also the Cameron Park Zoo and a few other city things like that.

I'll see what I can arrange. If not, I suppose we could go to the zoo, but goats don't play as fair. :goofy:

I've got a few pool halls in mind if that's what every one wants to do. Alright, so we've got:
-BBQ at Cameron Park
-Photo ops all over the park area
-Mini-cruise through Waco (or just the park, up to y'all)
-Pool tourney
-Dinner?
-Bar hopping for us older folk (wooooooooohoooooo!!! :)) ?
And this is tenatively scheduled for August 17th. I'll be posting a final meet agenda here in a bit, and please post on it if you plan to attend.
