Hi Everyone!!!
I'm new to this forum and would like some help for my 99 ATX 2.5L Duratec Cougar. Friend of mine borrowed my Cougar and crashed it in Colorado. Driver side of the car is f**ked up. She promptly fled to New York after that . No insurance on the vehicle and I have to repair everything out of pocket. I was thinking to do some mods on the car while I was at it.
The repairs I need done are (all on driver side):
headlight replacement
bumper replacement
fender replacement
Door shell replacement
quarter panel replacement
The mods I wanna do are:
Z3 fenders
Body Kit
Weapon R Intake
Yo Dude dual exhaust
Kaminari Wings
changing ATX to MTX
change hood or add on scoop
Basically I need help and advice to undertake this. eg: recommending a good (ie. cheap ) body shop or even helping me get some of this stuff done. I would also like to meet Cougar enthuasist from Michigan and participate in events/gatherings around here.
By the way, I'm Asian (does that make me a rice boy?)
Thanks

man my sis goes to school at central.... that why your up there? i know when she rolled her explorera year or so ago there was a shop up there that did all the wotrk but they didn't do the best job in my mind..... and hells yeah if you have to replace it why notreplace wiht aftermarket... but i am no use to you really unless you want the name of a shop that she went to wherte they didn't even pull the rubber mouldings to paint do the seem is right there and stuff

Yep! I'm here at Central. Don't think anybody would voluntarily stay here unless they were going to Central or working at the casino. Actually, I would appreciate it if you could give me the name of the shop to avoid. Wouldn't want to send my beloved cat there would I?:)

Hey, welcome to the boards and MC-NECO.
If you are serious about ATX to MTX then that answers some of your questions --> buy a new or used Cougar... probably cheaper and less of a hassle in the long run.
As far as the rest of your mod list goes, the key items will be the fenders, hood, bodykit, and spoiler to decide on right away. Mainly to save on paint and installation costs. The rest you can hold off on until you are good and ready and have had a chance to do some research to make an informed decision.

I was thinking of getting
Aerogear Z3 Fenders
SW Front Bumper (coz I need replacement bumpers & I heard horror stories about the Dragon Z)
Kaminari Side and Rear Skirts
Kaminari Spoiler
Visteon Hood Scoop
Are these hard to install (I've never done car stuff B4)? Would appreciate help from someone when I get this project going.
Well, any suggestions/comments?

Well, I heard stories about the Dragon Z being really hard to install. Also heard that it was very thin and brittle.

Welcome to Mc-Neco Arcteryx!!!
Well normally i would be right around the corner from you in midland, since i goto to Northwood University, but i am not taking any summer courses or anything so i'm back home around detroit. As for shops up there, i dont know of any and i'm sorry to be of no help in that category. But, definatley take Hangtimes advice o0n the body stuff, i definatley suggest getting everything that needs painting and/or installation first. So far you have some great ideas, so now just look for deals and collect everything you need then do one big install. Let me know if ya need anything everyone here is more than helpful.....

Sounds good, so your opinion is I should go with the dragon z bumper? I was thinking of going with either dragon z or street weapon front bumper with kaminari sides and rear. Or a full SW kit. Any opinions? I definitely wanna get a kaminari spoiler, hood scoop and already ordered some z3 fenders. Thats it for cosmetic mods. Anybody know whether James charges shipping according to individual items or does he charge less if I buy a whole bunch of stuff from him? ( i wanna buy the spoiler now but i'm delaying the decision for the body kit so I wanna know whether I should buy it all at once)
As for performance mods, I wanna get a weapon r intake and yo dude dual exhaust.
Any ideas on my current decison?

James dosen't stock any of his big ticket items, they are all shipped directly from the manufacturer, so unless you purchased a few items from the same manufacturer, you won't get a discount on shipping.

Thanks for the info, was really helpful. Already ordered through James.
