Just installed my VTEC covers today and I know alot of people have had problems with light leaks. Well, I found a post a while back where Sunni said she had sealed the edges of the lights with electrical tape prior to attaching the covers. Well, I did the same with mine and there isn't the slightest hint of leaks. So, I just wanted to give credit where credit is due! Appreciate the tip!

Dammit, here I am and I see "Kudos to Sunni" in the "Cosmetic" section and I figured she had something enhanced or altered. What a letdown! :goofy:

I was thinking about the electrical tape thing too. And I even bought a roll before I put mine on, but decided against it...no leaks here, so far! Mabye it's just luck :)

Sure do, but not quite as much as the headlight covers. I wasn't sure how I was gonna like 'em, but they were cheap to paint ($60 for the set = $15 each) so I had them done at the same time. When I did a test fit I was amazed. Even looks good with my mini mask. If there isn't rain tonight I'll take some pictures and post them.

its not too late. you should be able to remove them and put the tape down.. then put them back on. if the tape is screwed up you can just buy more tape and restick it on the lights.
(luckely i read that post a while back and saved the page so when it came time to do it.. i had it right there. :))
Man, I wish I thought of that.

I love the rear tail lights. I dunno about the front ones though. I like how it looks with a painted inside rather than the covers. Evidently people disagree with me, thats OK I guess. :)

I was thinking of taillight covers for mine, but since the shade of the light is almost the shade of my car...would it make that big of a difference? Any Laser Red Kitties done anything to your backside? lol.
So far my list of easy exterior mods is slim. Sidemarkers, removing dealer emblem(done, actually), and replacing the Merc. badge and repositioning the "Cougar" lettering(I have to order the new letters and the Cougar head badge still). I hate that nasty little orange reflector in the headlights but I don't guess there's too much I can do about that.
So are taillight covers a waste of money for little effect?

My car is laser-red and I did all four lights. I keep telling myself that I'm gonna take pictures but I keep forgetting. If I remember, you'll have 'em tonight. The difference is real subtle, but nice nonetheless.

Thanks, I'd love pictures if you take em. I guess there's nothing I can do for the headlights, since mine are 01-02 style. I actually like the 99-00s better. I knew it would be subtle, but didn't know how much so. Just wondering if it's worth the money and time. Thanks!
Edit: stupid me, I read your sig and it still didn't register your car was laser red too. Livin' in AL is starting to kick in!
I have a laser red 99, and put black tail covers on mine. It's all personal opinion of course, but I think that red covers on red tail lights looks silly. Black might not look great to everyone, but I love how they turned out. Actually mine are black, but with the laser red tint on top. So at night they look black, but when light hits them you can see a slight red hue on them. I have laser red headlight covers, but I am not going to install them because they look like goggles...I do NOT like the headlight covers.

Here are the pics of the front and rear covers. They're kinda rushed, so there was no chance for clean up.

Personally, I think if there is a car that needs taillight covers, it is the red ones...and the black ones.
Fett....I don't think my covers look like goggles!
I think he was stating that he thinks the head light covers look like goggles (I see the resemblence myself). The rear tail light covers look very nice. Can't wait... mine are being painted right now.

Actually, I think he was talking about the V-Tech headlight covers....
I attached the wrong pic, I meant to attach a pic of my headlights. LOL

Thanks for those pics. It is enough of a difference I think. Wonder who would paint them for me for a good price.
Fett- I've seen shots of someone w/ black covers, maybe they were yours. I like the idea of a red tint over them. Will it not bubble being over the paint?
Looks like another idea in the making...
