View Full Version : Opinions On Blue Tint??
I am pretty sure i am buying a 2002 cougar withing the next few months and i really want a white one. I have a black one now with black tint, but considering tinting the new one blue and putting blue sidemarkers on it. How do you guys think this will look? Please only constructive criticism.

The tint will start to fade with time and the sidemarkers may get you pulled over, ESPECIALLY in PA! I'd just go for black tint and smoked or black markers, just to be safe, if that's possible.

i have a silver frost with blue sidemakers. it looks good, and i sure yours will looks great. Just try and match the blues. On getting pulled over on the side markers. You will be fine, unless you change them to always running, then you might. But i have had mine for over 6 months and never got pulled over.

got pulled over in PA for having clear sidemarkers and clear bulbs behind them
Honestly ive never been pulled over for any of my cosmetics. i have 5% tinted windows all the way around with a 7" windshield banner with black side markers with blue bulbs in them. i even got pulled over down the street races and the cop didnt say a word. I also have the headlight and tailight covers which are illegal beings they cover all your reflectors. So my car is basically a gold mine for cops but knock on wood no trouble. Maybe because of the D.A.R.E plate they think i support them  yea like im really for that.

Honestly ive never been pulled over for any of my cosmetics. Well, if you have no problem in that part of the state, then by all means, go ahead. Lookswise I think it may look pretty good. I was just trying to watch out for you, because trust me, on this side of the state the cops pull over people for tint alone. This girl I know got pulled over for tint and besides having to get it removed and showing proof of that at the police station, she got a fine. Up until then I had just heard of people getting warnings so long as they removed it. So, if you think you can get by with the blue tint, hey, why not. Just don't come to the Pittsburgh area. It's sad to be nervous with 35% like I am.

How do those black side markers look with blue bulbs?
They sound like they'd cancel eachother out into nast color combo...
Well in certain townships in my area (outside philly) you will get bothered by the cops a lot. They have those damn tint meters and the just put them on your window and it gives a percentage. But heres a tip to use if a cop has a meter, ask him to put it on your winshield, if it doesnt come up %100 then he cant give you a ticket because its not accurate i had a friend do it and he got off, but remember the cop does not have to do it on your windshield, he was lucky enough to get a dumb cop. As for the side markers, they arent as black as you would think and the blue shines through them very well

I'm in Maryland and got blue tint on my car a couple of weeks back. Just so everyone knows, it comes up a little over 11%. HIGHLY ILLEGAL. I've already been pulled over once by a state trooper with 2 rear struts blown out on his cruiser. He let me go. I doubt I'll be so lucky if there's ever a next time.
If you try and get a state boy to put the meter on your windshield here, you'll get looked at like you have a mental condition. Because their meters slide onto your doors windows. Kinda like a C clamp.

I thought they all clamped on to the window like a C clamp.

Naah, I checked Google to try and find a pic of the one they used at the shop that installed my tint. Found a couple of different varities of meters.
well i got my white 02 but its not getting tinted blue, not because of legal reasons cause i dont really care about that. i couldnt find a place in my area that had blue tint and one guy told me if i found it, that the tint wouldnt be of a good quality. so this friday i will be getting the standard black 15% all the way around.

When I got mine done, I was told the usual stuff. It'll fade over the course of about 2 years, we can't guarantee it except if we screw up putting it on, it'll draw police attention, etc.
I'm almost looking forward to it fading a little bit to get the 5-0 off my back.

My dad's clk has a very light blueish tint and he doesn't get pulled over. It actually came stock like that. That is a really deep blue....all you need to do is hang some plastic fish from your rear view mirror and put some stuffed animal fish on the back window. Hehe j/k. Looks really good.

I live near Pittsburgh, will the cops really pull you over for having other than orange side markers? What about if you got rid of the orange in the headlights?
I called the PA State police in Butler yesterday and asked about neon and tinting. Officer Friendly assured me that it was all very illegal, even a stupid neon license plate frame. PA does suck, not very car friendly. I wouldnt think that side markers would be illegal though, especially clear ones. Although if I put those green bulbs in like I planned on doing, that might be a different story...

You shouldn't get in trouble for changing the sidemarker, putting a different bulb, maybe, but obviously only if they see it. Lots of cars nowadays have clear sidemarkers so they can't pull you over for that.
the clear lenses arent illegal, a few cougars come with them and a lot of vw's have clear sidemarkers stock, its the bulbs that will get ya. and IGNERNT i just read an article in the paper last week about tint and im PRETTY SURE they said the legal limit in pa is 30% and no deeper then a 5" strip across the front. so i dont think you need to worry. the more you study the laws the better chance you have of getting off. did you know you cant get a ticket for running a stop sign in a parking lot? they can stop you and yell all they want, but unless the owner wants you to get a ticket, theres nothing they can do. ive got a ton of em, my friend took some law courses and told me all kinds of good stuff

Really? You can't get a ticket for running a stop sign in a parking lot? I didn't think you could... You sure?
What about speed limits in parking lots?

parking lots are private property. so the rules of the road do not apply because the state does not own the property. sort of if u drive an offroading car for use on your property, it does not need to pass emmisions ect.
My friend did donuts in front of a PA state trooper and he did stop him and give him a bunch of crap but thats about all they can do. There are a lot of things that can help you out. If you get pulled over for speeding you are allowed to ask so see the reading the officer got or the time you had going through the speed trap. And in PA only state troopers and chief of police can use a radar gun. Your also aloud to ask for his supervisor or chief of township to come out to the scene reguardless of the situation.

Can't do that here in Cali. The officers eyes are considered as good as radar. AND it holds up in court! Talk about screwed!

OJE Correction/addition to the radar use in PA,
State Police
and DER(park rangers)
are the only enforcement groups permitted to use radar.
Local Police will use Vascar(stopwatch timing set distances)
They Just started using Police Motorcycles in my area... Both State and Local..
Pretty cool, but now I have to keep my eyes trained for them...
BTW, one cool thing, wave to a state trooper if you pass their speed trap... you might just get away with it... :)
Its funny what you can get out of if you have the right things to say. but if you ask to see his reading you bette be damn sure you werent speeding cause if you were and your trying to make him look like a fool, he'll go over your car with a fine toothed comb

poo i was considering blue tint as well...luckily i live in a city where cops have real problems and dont really care about BS. anything short of going over 100 and running someone over they dont care. im thinking of going with a light blue tint...my car is white too so if you get yours done let me see.
