Colored and tinted 01 parking lights

Some might remember awile back I found a way to replace my ugly orange parking lights with a Tinted lens (http://www.cooga.org/headlight2.JPG) And I had intended to make some more for other folks. Well, I ran into some snags, and I got tired of taking my lights apart to try to figure them out...but reciently, another COOGA member had a feak accident where the back of his headlight got broken but the front was untouched. so now with a demo model I was able figure it out. I figure we'll make some of these when we return from Orlando, and some more supplies come in. Currently I have the film to make Red, Blue and WHITE lenses. The white is a frosted material, I think it will turn out very well. Here are some pictures of the Red and Blue (http://www.cooga.org/shoplist.htm). I'm just curious if anybody's interested and what other colors people might want, so please reply . Andrew

Forget about the girl holding the light assembly, if you go to the Georgia Cougar's site and look at the members pictures, you will find this girl, Model??? (http://www.cooga.org/Gabe'sProfile.htm)

I have a passenger side 99 headlight with the backing destroyed.. I have to pull it out of where it is tonight make sure the rest is in tact.. if so, I'll donate it for a free set of reds. :)

I failed... :( I have all the rest of the supplies left -- if you figure it out I can donate to your supply stash in return for a slight discount on a set of reds... if you still can make the smoked ones I am down for those as well...

I would be first in line, seriously. I have one reflector laying around here somewhere, and might be able to dig up the other if for some reason you can't take Merc's set.

Thanks Crispy, but I'd really like to have the housing so we can test fit every set before sending them out. when they are ready I will have a how to with pictures to go with them. I'm surprised that no one has shown interest in other colors....I thought for sure somebody would want yellow or green.

Price? well..... the films are made of the same material used in Stage production to color the "gazillion candle " lights, so I figure they will be fairly tolerant to heat and fading.("I'm guessing) when you get your order you may be a bit disappointed that they are so thin. the prototypes (mine)are actually thin(4mm) lexan that have been tinted. these are the problems that occur with the lexan: harder to cut, harder to bend, sometimes snap or crack under force, and I was unable to find a way to adhere the film to the lexan that looked good. The shape is the most important thing, I spent several hours trying to make the 3d orange reflector into a 2d piece of cardboard. Price now is $10 bucks but we'll have to see how supply goes. I'm not going to spend all my free time cutting plastic heheeh, would you? but maybe I can get some other COOGANS to help in the process. when we have a bit of stock I'll post in For-sale.

OK...I'm back home. I'm going to order the materials for the red, blue, frosted, zn yello , and the tinted ones, but it is ord3ered online so it's gonna take a week or so. so I say we'll be ready with some in stock by July. so please keep your order till then I'm glad y'all like them so muck! I thought that Cagney's Red and Troy's blue turned out great!!!

PS..Custom01 was very nice to donate me an old 99 headlight! so I'll be working on that prototype too! look for updates on COOGA! Andrew

I was walking around CougarBash checking out cars then i looked i think inside the backseat of andrews car and saw a 01 Headlight with that Blue in it,i was like Holy ****...then the only thing i could ask after that was,You Have Red? - How Much? - Ok =)

It turned out great,took less than like 30 minutes for him to take out my headlights and put in the reflectors on both
looks like he had did it a few hundred times...hehe

Now my first worry was legality,so if you get Blue/Red or whatever color that cops might pick on you about
I just pulled my parking light out and kinda let it hang behind the whole thing
Still looks good and doesint give off any kind of Red Glare that could get me pulled over =P

But overall great idea,its cheap,and im glad to say i got the first red set =)
But im sure once andrew gets on his feet with all this and gets a bunch made, I wont be as different but hey...least i can say i was the first to give it a shot =)

I have seen these in person, and let me tell you....they kick @ss! They look INCREDIBLE.......especially if you have a color working outside your car.......yu can see it on the black one with the blue reflectors, it totally brings the car together!

I can not wait for the 99s to come out!
