All three back as dark as you want, the front two sides you can tint, but the legal limit is so light that you can't even tell it's there.

For the front windows, Ford's stock 'SolarTint' just passes. Rear windows.. you can paint them black if you want to.

i'd assume windshield would be the same as the front two windows which legal limit are 50%... barley noticeable...

He meant the 'sun-screen' on the front windshield. For tinting, the percentage refers to the level of light it's letting in (though not a direct proportion I don't think).. 5% tint is dark, 50% tint is really light.

i was thinking 25%on the rear windows, 35%on sides and maybe 50% on the front... Luminar tinting

When we say 'rear' we mean the rear windshield and rear quarter windows.. (when you're talking about tint). When you say front, you mean the front windshield and both driver and passenger side windows. :)

Watch your step on tinting the driver/passenger side and windshield.. the copes don't like you to brake the law on those.. no tint.. you can do anyting you want on the rest..

not like having "off road only" headlights and no cat will be legal anyways and cams for that matter

NorCalCoug
06-05-2002, 11:47 AM
True, but the cop can't tell you have off-road headlights, or no cat. And he wouldn't care about cams since there's no laws about that. ;) Tinting on the other hand is the first thing they pull you over for.. before they start ticketing you for everything else.

All they need is something to start with, and its all downhill from there..

Now the cops are taking inspectors from the State Smog Inspection Department around with them. If they think you have a mod to your factory exhaust system .. Pow.. you're pulled over and inspected on the spot.. one word from the Inspector and you're car is impounded .. Zap!! .. :disgust:

Of course I'd never do anything illegal to my exhaust system (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/include/uploadbox/viewfile.cfm?files=exhastPost%2Ejpg).. besides Ford always has the hottest exhaust money can buy..

Oh well, mine is going to be cat-back and is under state maximum sound level requirements. If they want to impound my car, I will ask them to test my emissions on the spot, otherwise I'll sue them for improper seizure without due process. ;)

Thats why i'm waiting for some CARB certified headers:biggrin:

hehe i ment the cams would hurt emissions... but didn't someone say that 50% was coo for the front and sides?

NorCalCoug

The law says you can only tint the fronts (passenger, driver and windshield) with clear, non-reflective tint. So.. uh.. you really can't do much there. ;)
