Its not very loud, its very deepthough.Jsut becouse an exhaust is loud doesnt mean, you get more power.I think that our cars make more power with a lil' bit more backpressure.I own 2 cougars an ATX and a MTX and have tried a buch of different combos.I thuink that this is the best yet.

Yeah i will agree that our cars do perform better with some backpressure....................... I had the YoDudes and stock filter and that worked well but when i got an aftermarket filter i could feel less power and now i dont have the exhaust anymore......... i can feel some more of that power coming back........

The reason you feel more power is cause when you get an aftermarket intake and exhaust you get more
power but on the upper rpm band. most of us do driving between 2500 to 4000 rpm

Whoa I didn't even know Apexi made an exhaust for our car!
Anyone have anymore info on it? Is it a dual setup and such and such?

I'd contact RockfordCougar. I believe he's the only one to ever have had that exhaust system. I'm pretty sure he's running a Yodude dual now, though.

Yep.. I was THE FIRST cougar owner to have that exhaust on the car. The system really was nice. The rear canister was kinda big, but with a body kit on, it looked great-especially if you kept it polished!.

As for sound. It was loud enough to be noticed but not loud enough to be annoying. I also noticed a slight bump in midrange power.

It comes with a resonator which I had removed-- sound output rose a bit but also, when the car was cold, you got a NASTY rasp noise....but that went away in about 10 mins of driving.

Im using a YoDude Dual with Flowmaster now since I wanted a dual setup instead.. and something ALOT louder.

If your thinking about getting the Apexi --- DO IT if you dont want an exhaust thats really loud, and what an exhaust that will give you more midrange.

Weren't you running a 15.2 with your YoDude exhaust? That's ALOT faster than stock.

Maybe it feels faster now, because you can't hear how hard you're pushing your car in everyday driving anymore? That always fools me when I have my stock intake on... I feel like I'm getting more power with less effort... but it's just because it's so much quieter.

Needing backpressure is a myth... as long as everything is tuned properly, it's best to have as little backpressure as possible.

I have a question for you Rockford. I believe I've seen you make comments in the past about coffee can exhausts, ricers, etc. What's the difference between you getting an exhaust that sounds louder, to just sound louder and a coffee can exhaust?

Yep I'm the one that bought the exhaust system from Rockford and I still am a huge fan to this date! The muffler is kinda big, but I have the wings west kit so it hides it a little better. I really like the sound, not too loud, which means I can still hear the weapon-r ram air throughout the RPMs. I have not seen another cougar with this exhaust and think its highly underated because everybody wants loud! I personally think if you don't have 8 or more cylinders then your car isn't suppose to sound like a semi.

P.S. sorry in the pics below my exhaust is dirty, but its polished now :)

Ok maybe you didn't say it. I thought you had commented about cars that you had seen in shows before though.

However, the person who bought your system is the textbook ricer if I ever saw it. :) Coffee can exhaust and a Type R badge. *sigh*

Next thing you know we're going to have somebody with a Ferrari logo on their car.

Brian... did you remove the resonator before or after Dyno Day.... because that would probably explain that 'marbles-in-a-tin-can' sound it made from like 3K-4K rpm...

IntenseImage

It was removed WAY before the dyno run... and yep, that sound was due to the car being cold w/o the resonator.
