So my clutch went out and I'm getting it replaced. I figure I'll save myself a couple hundred dollars down the road and go ahead and replace the flywheel now. I am having a Heavy Duty Clutch installed, a Quaife LSD and I'm trying to decide on a flywheel. The Three I have heard of are the clutchmaster clutch, Unorthodox, and Fidanza. Anyone know which is the best to get? Thanks for your help. And what gains can I expect? Thanks
Chuck

Go with either the Fidanza or Clutchmasters flywheel...I'm not a fan of the UO...and it's really pricey...

The FIdanza will be cheapest.

Your cheapest option is to grab a used SVT flywheel and have it lightened. Someone I know had it milled to 14lbs (not to shabby) for around $150 plus the flywheel price he grabbed for like $50.

Up to you...lightening a stock flywheel does weaken it...

SHO Shop sells a lightweight Flywheel that is still made of steel... Terry Haines at CEG and some other people belive using aluminum for a flywheel is asking for trouble down the line. Dont know if that would be 5000 miles down the line or 150000 so take that as you may.

fidanza, the flywheel is aluminum, but it still has a steel insert that the clutch masks to, so i dont think reliability is an issue.

Billet steel is a better choice IMO. If you are going to be doing extensive engine mods for more HP. Go with the steel. At the same price and almost the same weight go with steel. If you look at the engine rotation and the location of the bell housing a blown clutch or s shattered flywheel is aimed right at the driver. Steel or aluminum. I'll take steel. Billet steel is what I am installing in my car. Tom at SHO was willing to give us a discount on the billet flywheel once before but only two of us bought the flywheels.
