OK,
Ive been seeing everwhere that you should drive on the road with a bunch of aftermarket parts, like specifically the Aerogear Predator hood. I love this hood, and was just about to order one up when I saw it is not intended for everyday road driving. Is this just a warning because something strange could happen? Or is it too light and weak that its gonna tear right off the car or something? I would suppose since its fiberglass you would need the pins in it, but does that make it ok for city driving? Or should this hood just stick to the show floor?

i dont know about that, i dont see your average neco person spendind that kind of money if they cant use it, so i'd say its fine.

Aerogear Predator hood is ok for everyday driving... some states have funny laws and thats just something they have to post n their site and disclaimers... basically if anything happens to you in a car accident cause of the hood, you can't sue them...

I like the hood alot and I used to have the Kaminari on my old car and was very impressed with the predator

James, tell me about that hood. I have been thinking about getting one and did a search and read for hours. I just didn't know what is going to happen if I drive my car daily. Like if something happens and I don't end up getting my winter car if I have to drive in the snow. How about the rain? I read about it all and no one really says anything. Also I have heard problems with intakes with that hood. all or just the cold air box? Thanks

Hubie:

We just installed the Hood onto the project cougar. The hood latch needs to be trimmed down a little bit as RockfordCougar has mentioned. Its a tight fit for the duratec engine shroud too so I would suggest removing that or atleast trimming that. As far as intakes, My Weapon R Dragon intake fits under there perfectly. I have assumptions that the cold air box will not fit, just waiting for Leo to get me my CAB kit shipped out. As far as rain and snow, obviously there is potential that it will get into the engine since the scoops are inverted. However I don't see any of them causing any real damage to the car besdies making it very dirty. As far as daily driving... I don't forsee the weight of 22lbs being a problem. It still uses the stock hood latch and stock mounting points close to the windshield. I got a real good deal on some hood pins so thats why I am doing hood pins. From experience... The only problem with fiberglass hoods is front end accidents!! When I totalled the ChromaCougar... my hood broke in to two big pieces and flew 50 ft from the point of impact. The hood will not obsorb the force like your stock hood will.

Good explanation?

yes thank you. I just want to then be able to make something up to go into the vents for the rainy days that the car has to be out. I don't think it should be driving in the snow next year. Thanks alot for clearing it up.
