View Full Version : Need Help right now Can't get ECU out

I wanna put in my chip but i can't get the ECU out. I took the bottom brace off is there anything else. PM write back anything just quick before i torch the f--king car....

Never did it before, but I know you have to remove something from inside your engine bay first.. Then you slide the ECU up to get it out.. Dont take my word for it as I havent done this.. but i think thats what I have heard.. Run a search here or on CEG Boards (http://www.contour.org/cgi-ubb/ultimatebb.cgi) for a definant answer.

Open your hood, the upper left part of the engine bay you'll see your power steering resevoir next to the strut tower. Lift that up, its just snapped in, and move it to the side. You'll see a square rectangle about 1" by 5" with a hex nut on it. Loosen that nut up - dont have to take it all the way off, and then u'll be able to pull the ecu out. Make sure your key is NOT in the ignition.

Maddog, did you have to do the jumper trick to get it to work? I got mine installed this weekend. Love it as well. This is probably a must for any ATX cougars even if you don't have mods. I only have an intake. I won't be doing a lot of engine mods for a while, but once they are done I'll get my chip reburned to be optimized for the parts. Don't forget to use premium gas. Kind of sucks because of the prices but you should get better gas mileage with it and the chip.
