Hi,
I have not been on in a while so if i missed this somewhere forgive. I wanted to put a supercharger on my 99 MTX. What do you think? Should I go with Turbo or Supercharger?

whatever you want...

Either way you'll make power...so whichever you can afford.

Feel free to do a search on peopls opinions, as this question has been covered many of times.

Well i've heard just from the other guys that the Vortech kit is cheaper but it has a 100% failure rate. The vibration apparently is so intense that it destroys the bearings from the inside. Turbo is problably best. A little more expensive but worth it..

I have installed the Vortech SC and so far not problems with the SC. However I did lose oil pressure and I am currently replacing the motor. Even with the loss of oil pressure it looks like the SC survived with no damage. Did lose the motot. The lose of the motor was my mistake not the fault of the SC>

Two different beasts here, right Paxton? The Vortech unit uses a jackshaft from the front accesory belt. The Paxton prototype uses the front intake cam pulley, IIRC- The same one used by the water pump. That jackshaft appears to be the issue- You're attempting to transfer all that rotation and stress along a shaft, causing the vibration that tears up the SC's bearings.

DanG,

From what Pax wrote awhile ago Paxton deemed the water pump assembly not good, and when they merged with vortech they promised a vortech kit in the deal of the car :)

I have the Vortech SC with the jackshaft. So far no problems. The new motor should be ready by the end of next week and i will be putting it to the test. 2,400 mile road trip in June. I am running 11lb pulley now and will be changing it out to 15 lb pulley after the motor is broke in. I will let everyone know how it goes. I have the redesigned shaft and Vortech tells me no problems with the new design. I'll see for myself soon enough.

I will be getting a new digi cam in the next couple of days and will post some pic of the new motor install and other goodies that we have done.
