Well, I did the upper, lower, injectors, and tb today. Simple install. Well, now I have some problems....
1. How do you fit the stock accordian tube on the svt throttle body? I've pried, cut, you name it. That ***** isn't going on.
2. Car idles at 2000 rpm. Then goes down to 1500, then to 1200, then to 2000. IAC perhaps?
3. When I shift gears from N to D, rpms shoot up 1000 over what they were in N
4. Throttle seems to be stuck. Nothing in the way of moving parts. You really got to hit the gas to open up the secondaries.
5. Slow as hell......I'm sure it's just the ECU learning new stuff.

I also have a CEL. Don't know what it is, but I'm gonna stop by Pat Millikan so my friend can use his scanner.

Can anyone guess what the problems are? Thanks guys....off to school......

Jeff, I just had the same issue on Sun when I put the stock intake tube on the SVT tb. All you have to do is take just the tube with no MAF or anything on it and put your fingers inside of it, put the bottom of the tube over the bottom of the tb and use your fingers to strech the rubber over the top. It fits, at least I got mine to. Later.

Jeff,

I used two screwdrivers to pry/stretch the accordion tube over the TB. Try adding some soapy water too to the rubber. It will fit.

How are you even driving the thing if the accordian tube isn't on? Unmetered air or an intake leak would definitely cause the drivability issues you are experiencing. Also, check for vacuum leaks. (Did you remember to plug the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line back in?)

I had to use a couple of washers to shim the throttle body bracket to get everything to line up straight. Without the shimming the bracket on mine does not seem to want to mount perfectly straight. As a result, the cable will scrape along the cam guide. This might be what is causing your throttle sticking issues.

Based on my secondaries light, not much has changed between before and after in terms of when the secondaries are actuated. Always after 3500 RPM and only when the TPS senses that I'm stomping on it. If I stomp on it and I'm still not past 3500 RPM then no secondaries.

I've got a CEL as well. I think it might be alternator related so I can't be sure if it is related to the switch or not. Alternator is going to be replaced in the coming month. I think that the idle issues I've been having were due to one of the injectors not being plugged in properly (or possibly air temperature). Things seem to have cleared up in the past few days since it's gotten warmer and after I gave my injector wiring harness a bit of pushing. :) This could explain the incredible mileage I was getting on the way back from Toronto a couple of weeks ago after the swap.

I also notice that if I floor it on the highway, I actually get better acceleration if I back off a bit on the throttle at WOT. I suspect that I'm running rich at WOT (when the PCM ignores the O2's and goes rich on the fuel). I've got a C&L ready to install. Should fix the problem based on what Puck and mcon have reported.

Cool....I'll try to put the tb on tomorrow. As of how it is now.......handymans favorite tool.....duct tape. Well, I got everything straightened out. Took the car to the dealer and the best tech there looked at it. Took no more than 15 seconds before he knew exactly what was wrong. The iac wire was stuck under the egr, grounding it out, making the car run 100% duty. It's now at a very healthy 31%. The tech knew EVERYTHING. He's got a turboed escort that runs 13's. and is now working on a zx3. This guy can even reprogram my ecu for a few cases of beer. Ahhhh everything turned out ok. Car's not running as good as I thought it would. And I'm ****ting you not-my car is QUIETER! No joke!!! Just got to get that tube on, make my tps read 1.2V, wires, plugs, oil change, and potentionmeter and I'm good for Milan. I might go take some Gtech runs to see some actual numbers tonight when the cops aren't out. Thanks for your help guys.

Edit: What 45,000 miles with no manual cleaning looks like. PS. I use a bottle of chevron intake cleaner every 2500 miles.

CEL back on. Car drives great, and I got the accordian on. Thanks Steve and Craig! Gonna take it next door to Henry Fords auto lab and have it checked out.

bring it to milan, i will have a fully charged laptop with autotap on hand, hopefully others will bring autotap and laptop too, this way here we can log data as we are going down the strip....

Hopefully I'll have the code cleared tonight. I bet it's the maf. Time to upgrade. Anywho-I need an autotap there to compare some runs with and without a mod I'm making tonight.

Bank 1 rich
Bank 2 rich.

Time for a vortech maf.

Put the Vortech MAF on today. Still getting a CEL. Car seems to run better though at WOT but my idle problems are back. Seems to be a bit worse actually - which is understandable. I guess it needs more miles to relearn the idle.

I'm starting to think that my CELs are more alternator and O2 sensor related than anything. Still getting battery lights at high RPMs. I do have 94K miles on her so its probably about that time anyways to change sensors and stuff.
