Hey,
Will a rockford punch 500a2(2000 model) and a power 360.2(2001 model) be to hard on the stock altenator and battery of my cougar?
Will this setup dim the headlights when the bass hits?
I know if this is the case, my option is to get a cap...I'll ask questions about those later.
Thanks,
Jason

you'll get some dimming, how much depends on how everything is setup.

Just get a 1 Farad cap just in case. It won't hurt your sound quality and you may even get harder hitting bass. Should be < $100.

Krotty I'm not totally sure. Right now I have a 5 channel amp powering my entire system with no cap. I will be adding an xtant amp for my subwoofer and will definitly get a cap. I've been debating on either get 2 (.5 farad) caps for each amp, 1 (1 farad) cap for both of them, or just 1 cap for my subwoofer amp. 1 Farad caps are good up to 1000 watts I believe, .5 farad = 500w. I will probably be getting a 1 Farad cap and connecting it before the power distribution block, therefore each amp shares it. Perhaps later on, I will buy another one.
My friend said it was pretty easy installing his cap. Not sure if there is anything else you need to know.

I have 2 Rockford Amps:
Punch Power 800a2
Punch 200a4
And a 1 Farad cap with an Optima Yellow Top Battery. The stock alternator is still in, but I still get a little dimming of the lights. Remember, when your car is running, all the power comes from the alternator. When I shut my car off, and play the system, the lights won't even dim!! I love that battery.
I once played a whole entire DVD with my system on, and my car shut off at a car show.. and never had a problem starting the car up... Optima makes a great battery!!!
