I was thinking about throwing a strut bar on my brand new Coug -- as a first mod that seems fairly safe and simple. What benefits does a strut bar give? How hard is it to install (just bolts on or is there lots of disassembly involved?) If I were to paint it, would it be as simple as spray paint or do I need hi-temp paint?
Any negatives? (If I went to a dealer in a few years for strut replacement, are they going to pitch a fit over the strut bar being there?
thanks :)

The OMP strut bar will reduce body flex due to the uni-body construction of the car. BUT, I think (b/c I don't own one), that your probably not going to notice the car handle any better under normal driving conditions, unless you are one of people who likes to take turns, on-ramps and off-ramps, at 70+ mph.
As for installation here is the How To (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=14&threadid=23796&highlight_key=y&keyword1=strut%20bar). Looks like you just drill a couple of holes in the strut towers and screw in the bar...pretty easy :)
Don't know anything about the painting. As for dealer problems....depends on the dealer, some care some don't. When your ready to replace your struts, i am sure there are plenty of neco members that will help you replace them....like me :)
I have the freedom design bar installed in my car. It does make a difference on cornering. It's not hard to install as long as you have some good titanium or better drill bits to cut the metal. Just make sure you dont drill the holes too big, if the bolts arent tight into the metal it's not going to hold worth a damn. I had to correct mine from this already with bigger bolts. If you're going to paint it, I would recommend high temp paint, my bar is pretty hot after driving around for a bit.
