View Full Version : Engine Smoking?!?
YUP! As if I didn't have enought things to worry about with my car, I noticed my engine was smoking! It appears to be coming from near the main drive belt. I hope its nothing serious. I've been told it's probably just the belt, but i'm not sure. By the way, my car has 56,000KM on it.
Any ideas?!?

most likely the belt slipping. With the pullies spinning and rubbing against the belt it's causing it to smoke. Same thing happened to Sue's car a little while ago. Be sure to take it in asap........you don't want it to snap on you while you're driving.
How much you figure a belt will cost from Ford?!?
The car has to go in anyways, should I just get them to repair it?!?
I have a WHOLE list of stuff that needs to be fixed!
Lets see, off the top of my head:
Scuffed up driver's side fender
Driver's side seat ripped
Engine smoking
Windows creaking
Rear defroster still not working
I think thats it!

Boy what is it lately with cars. Most people I know have had some kind of problem whether it be mechanical or whatever. Good luck Mike. I had my belt break on my grandam and trust me you wont get far when it does. Have you checked to make sure no fluids are leaking and dripping on the engine. That could also cause some smoke too. I'm sure you have already checked that but just thought I would mention it.
Well, the car is going in to Dixie on Friday. They're going to fix everything for me (hopefully!) and i'll have the car back by Saturday at the earliest, Monday at the latest.

Yup! I'm cursed! Or at least my car is!
And whats up with getting the "moosing" fixed?!? I thought you liked it?!? TRAITOR!
WELL!
My engine was smoking, BUT, it wasn't the belt like I originally thought! My car was leaking oil! OIL! WTF! custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif
I brought it to Dixie on Friday afternoon, and as soon as I drove in to the service bay, my service advisor smelt burning oil! Well, needless to say, Dixie F$%KED up during my last oil change!
Its fixed now, and they better not try to charge me for it!
