View Full Version : Idea for getting together and testing Cougars
The idea is to get together with different Cougar owners who have different suspension parts on there cars. It would be a great way to put the different mods to the test and see how the parts perform as a whole and against eachother. It would create some valuable test data, plus be a blast. So What does everyone think of getting together at a place such as summit point maybe(they have a skidpad and inner track) bringing together some test Cougars and bone stock and see what we come up with. Heck depending on how far you wanted to go, it could even be brought to the attention of one of the performance mags which would love to have some data like this. Any suggestions from Cougar owners, moderators, James,Trevor?

This would be a great idea because I had hoped that in the revamp of the Fastcougar site we can start to incorporate video/pics/sound of various mods so members can check them out & compare.
The videos can be compressed nicely down to 1-2mb and audio can be much less of course.

Sounds like a plan... can we do it before I get my body kit on? hehe :)
Well I think if we want to do this we need to:
1.Get together a good sample of cars from stock to various mods. If we are going to do this I think we need to have some base information. Then I think if we are testing mods we probably want to be able to put the exact same tires and wheels on each car. We probably need at least three drivers willing to drive each of the cars for a time comparison...etc.
2.We need to have a location.
3. ?
2.We need to have a location.
CougarFest, CougarBash... A large gathering would provide sufficient Cougars with different setups.

Sorry I will be unable to participate in this... I just found out that I will be converting my hubs over to a 5 lug and I refuse to do any testing on a set of 19s... I was planning to use my stockers but they are 4 lug... Oh well... best of luck, and remember the Tokico's are coming soon!

Tell me when and where, and I'll see if I can do it. I'm stock except for my OMP front (and rear ov3n/h4ns3n STB waiting to install). ;) But I plan on doing some 'testing' with NorCal NECO sometime in a few months anyway. ;)

Depending on where you want to do this........mine is still all stock under da hood!
So does anybody want to help me put this together, and what kind of support can NECO give? We need to identify who is willing to offer there car for testing, we need to find a location, then we can look at dates? BTW I was considering calling Summit Point to see about the use of there facility, but other people with connections or in the know could have an even better location.

There are too many variables included in the test. The fact that some people have 15, 16, 17, 18, 19" wheels screws all info up. If you used one universal wheel/tire combo-you can have a "control" for your experiment. That way, you could be testing strut bars, struts, sway bars, bushings, springs......
What? Why are you talking about variables now, we haven't even found the cars yet? Read my earlier post ......

It says PUT the same tires on the cars.
I'll be at CF, and am willing to participate.
