I don't normally post in here but figured I would share this one with everybody
I was heading home last Friday evening, after work, when close to my home I stopped behind a Taurus at the traffic lights. Only thing, Taurii or Tauruses are not the common in Holland. I’ve only seen 3 or 4 in the past 5 years. This one looked like a 2000 / 2001 model SE version. So while I’m waiting for the lights to change I’m wondering if he’s got the 3.0L Duratec and if I could steal it out of his car and maybe put it in my Cougar. (Just general day dreaming). Then it hit me man did that Taurus sound sweet. Probably the best sounding engine note I have ever heard. Now I start to take note. Stock looking tyres. Normal looking exhaust, looks like a regular Taurus. Oops lights changed and away he goes. So I race to catch him at the next lights and now I’ve turned down the stereo and I was not imagining it. The car in front of me sounded absolutely fantastic. I’m saying to myself I’ve got to talk to this guy and find out what he’s done.
Lights green this time I’m awake and I pull away with him. And there is that wonderful sound again. The guy in the Taurus figures I’m in a hurry so very politely he moves ahead of the car in the right lane, indicates and starts to move over. I speed up and start moving past him. Probably going close to 80km/h now and then WTF . In front of the Taurus is a brand spanking new Ferrari 575 Maranello. Eyes popped out. Jaw on my lap. I had this wonderful view of the four round tail lights and the 4 exhaust pipes out the back. And the sound was oh so wonderful. Still in shock, I lifted my foot of the accelerator and glided by the fantastic machine. Not wanting to stare too much as I passed I snatched quick glimpses and then I was past him. One last look in my wing mirror and then it would be all over. Wait a sec …There is that sound again, the Ferrari is keeping up with me. Whaaaaaat he’s checking me out.
I would loved to haved stayed and played but I was already in the turning lane and was not going to cut in front of him. So as I slowed down to turn left he passed me and I looked over for one last glimpse. The driver just gave me an quick thumbs up and then he was gone.
What a way to start the week end. I was smiling from ear to ear.
