Something weird happened to me this morning. I was just going up the on ramp to the 401. I was going about 60km/h there was a car ahead of me which I was approaching so i was gently slowing down. I guess i was perhaps going a bit fast, but never a problem in the past. Anyway, as i am going i start to feel my back end sliding out. Without any real chance of correcting, my car just spun out of control. I didn't have a problem keeping it on the road, but landed up facing cars coming toward me up the on ramp. Had to put it in reverse so I could get my car facing back to the hwy.

Now this was weird cause I swear there was no ice or snow or anything.

I had my front brakes replaced a while ago as i wore them way out, but they said my rears had about 40% left. I am thinking after this morning that rear brakes are gone, just leaving me with my front brakes. And since I was in a turn and braking my back end was still moving fast enough to swing me around.

Anyway, i plan to take my car in soon for this. But, i was wondering if anyone has had this happen before or if you think what I am saying makes some sort of sense.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas.
Thanks

thats weird i have never lost my back end before "touch wood" but it could be the brake problem, FYI if you need your rears done for free, ford had a TSB about 3 months ago regarding rear disc brakes and a squeeking noise, its worth a shot.

If it was cold enough, there could've been 'black ice' on the road which would've been invisible to see... Or you may have induced a 'tailspin' by letting off the gas after going into a turn. That's what happens to an FWD car when you let off the gas and the front wheels lose more traction than the rear. :)

Well, i must say that i didn't really get scared, although looking back i am not sure why. Perhaps all my craziness in parking lots, and around snowy street corners skidding out for just the hell of it. I will get them to check my brakes. I doubt it was black ice, cause I was stopped and i still couldn't see anything. Didn't feel smooth enough exactly for ice either. I don't seem to think it was just a spin out from taking my foot off the gas. Its possible, but i think i have done just about every crazy type of thing in that car and haven't come across that before. YOu could be right though. Anyway, thanks for the input. Anything else would be appreciated.
