yea so I did a complete system restoration last week because I was having so much trouble with all the junk on my harddrive, and since then I've noticed all the avatars on the forums are gone. I don't even have the option in my profile to upload my own avatar, it just like, disappeared. what's goin on?

Some bozo screwed it up for everyone else. I had a cool one too, a old guy pissing in the gas tank of a Taurus.

And you don't think an avatar such as that would classify YOU as a bozo? :banhim:

This is the exact reason why avatars were banned.

you've got to be kidding me. since this is a car forum, anybody that uses this is most likely older than 16 or 17, I think they can handle 'said' avatars.

Rick- nice, I loved that crap ever since I was little. lol

MikeIf they can handle it or not is not the issue. These forums are hosted by me and I don't want this type of petty "my avatar's more risque than yours" competition that goes on. We set rules and as soon as we do, someone sees the need to break them. So, to make it easier on everyone involved in policing this site, I simply removed the problem by not allowing it to occur. If you don't like it, feel free to start your own message board and run it the way you feel is appropriate.

People here browse these boards from home where there might be children watching, from work where their boss/co-workers might see, and from school, where their teachers/students might notice. Rather than forcing these instances to do without inline images, it was simpler to remove the offending part of the board. The avatars may return, but you will only be able to choose from a predefined list. No more custom icons unless I move to a tier-based subscription service for the community, which has been discussed in the past.

I'm 25... with a child on it's way. Let's say it's 5 years later and this board is still happening.

I go to my son and say "look at the new modification daddy is going to put on his car" showing him a thread with some pics of a new body kit.

Then I scroll down to reveal a "risque" avatar, this avatar would be fine for a 16+ year old, but not for my 5 year old. So then my son notices someone else peeing in a gas tank, doesn't say a wor.

3 days later I find my son stacking milk crates next to my car in the garage so he can get high enough and releive himself into my gas tank.

Another example, with say "dancing boobs avatar"... but this time my son asks me why thoses boobies are dancing.

This is a COUGAR forum with a family oriented atmosphere, not off-topic.net, not hang-out-lounge.com, not goof-of-r-us.com.

This question was answered a few times about 3 weeks ago. No need for another thread that's just going to erupt into arguements.
