Ok, I have a question, I'm going to be removing the heads on my duratec in a couple of months, and while I'm in there, would it be benificial to put adjustable cam gears in?
Do they even make em for the duratec?
What do they exactly do for you?
Also, would it be benificial to put in the SVT cams, or get a different cam profile?
What's the best way to go about it, and what should i be looking at while I'm in there, I'd like to spend a little extra, and save TONS of time later having to go back in there, not to mention get the engine ready for FI...
Thanks...

No one makes them in mass production for the Duratec but they have been made. SVE made some adjustable cams for FWC. David Z has them. Not sure if he has had to adjust them from stock location though. I believe they are hotter.

I thought adjustible cam gears on a V6 DOHC engine would be dangerous...Since there are 4 cams...and adjusting them could be dangerous...
If you go turbo, you won't want the SVT cams...get a set of cams made for a turbo setup. The SVT cams are a little mor agressive than stock cams, which would be good for NA power (not much over stock though).
Why not do some head work while they are off...get more air into the engine, and the turbo will only add more hp at lower amounts of boost...
Also, i assume you'll be getting some lower compression pistons?? Maybe like a 8.5:1 or an 8:8:1...That'll help too for a turbo setup...

The cams are worth around 10HP on the SVT. That's a large part of the 30HP difference. This bonus gets exponentially better the more mods you install. Not to mentions the Kansas flat torque curve...
Going to a 3L they would be even a great gain over the stock cams. (higher CR needing more duration!)
I do agree that the extra duration would "lose" a little more "boost" on a forced induction cars, but by the same accounts the different valve timing on the cams and increased duration would still allow more cylinder filling...
This is what you will end up making. These are the prototype adjustable cams we use.
