Can someone tell me how to remove the stock cassette deck in the 99 Cougar? Do I need some sort of hooks?

Yeah you need a puller... got to Napa and ask them for a tool to remove a stock FORD radio... or you can go the cheaper route and get some wire coat hangers (if you can find em anymore) and make your own... you need 2 metal "U"'s that fit into all 4 holes at once and release the clips.. those also act as your handle to pull em out.. i/expressions/smile.gif

Hanger wire is generally too light to press the tabs. The pullers are cheap and pretty easy to find. You can also go to a car stereo store and they'll pull it for you for free or really cheaply.

just take four nails and push them in the holes until u can feel that the levers are pushed then pull then deck out by the nails or the hole for the audio tapes. u can basically use anything that is strong enough, long enough, and small enough to fit in the four holes.
