Welcome Barney! Like Teflon said, you first need to decide if you want to do Performance or Cosmetic.. or a little of both..

We are a helpful group when asked, so if you decide to get something and wanna install it.. let us know.. we can set up a Mod Meet.. save on costs from a shop and will also be a good learning experience.. plus we're a pretty fun group. :)

EDIT: Also.. you are more than welcome to attend the Hooters & Hockey Meet on Jan. 19th in Reading.. with the Reading Royals take on the Richmond Renegades, followed by a stop at everyone's favorite American Resturant. :)

thanks a lot for receiving me to the board...I'm new in the field of modifying cars.
which one requires a lower cost?....performance or cosmetics? i know it depends on the type of products I'm interested in, but I can imagine that it's a little more difficult to buy a chip and install it than to buy a spoiler and install that.
thansk a lot again.

Chip is easier.. just plug it in.. :) (after taking a few pieces off. :))

It does depend on what you wanna do.. but.. I would say it can even out.. while you might have a $600 exhaust, you could buy a product and paint it and install it.. and it might cost the same..

I would say most people tend to do, intake, exhaust, headers (some people) and a body kit.. on average

yeah i would exactly like to start off that way. With an intake, exhaust but no headers and then a body kit.
so i guess my next step is to research on prices for the intake and exhaust, get that, and then finally get a body kit.
but i don't even know if that's a smart move? any suggestions.
thanks a lot steve.

well....seems like you're on your way to the beginning of car modification......i'd say start off with picking 1 thing you're interested in....say...start cosmetics.....ok...what would you like to do....smallest things are to paint your own grills/dash/assorted other plastic parts or get some sidemarkers for $32 from Mortis

choice is yours and let us know and we can definitely help ya out!

Hey guys... I live in King of Prussia (about 30 seconds from the mall.) I didn't know some of you guys were so close... I am an avid reader of the forums, but I obviously don't post that often. I can't make it to the Reading meet... but if you guys are having another KoP meet, let me know, I would love to check out some of your cats...

later..
