If anyone else has an idea for a raffle, please post. We are trying to raise funds to help develop the new Intake Manifolds and Headers. Fastcougar supports this per phone conversation last night.

Yeah, before anyone jumps down James throat about this, I am aware of this raffle and even offered to host it. However, James is also a web developer and is able to host all the content he can muster :) I personally don't own a Cougar any more, so I will not be participating, but it I did, I would buy tickets just for the cause. Time for people to put their wallet where their mouth is when it comes to complaining about no aftermarket. James has busted his butt the last couple of weeks and has gone through the trouble of driving this car to California and has left it there for a month now and has no plans on picking it up for at least 2-3 more months. This type of dedication is greatly appriated James! Hopefully the results will be impressive!

The page that you linked in your posts says that the proceeds will go towards development of new headers and intake manifolds. Are you willing to elaborate on them?

ProjectCougar

Fern: Details were posted in Duratech Performance. The proceeds from this auction will go directly towards buying the SVT upper IM and MSDS Headers so the company can have a performance base model to begin development of their kits.

At this time BAT Inc will be providing the UIM and NECO member will be providing the headers.

Trevor-
Just have chroma make you 'exempt' from winning but still accept your raffle donation, ja?

ProjectCougar

Just so you know I will not be pulling the name for this. I will have another NECO member (maybe even from a different chapter) pull the name out

Good point Nic ... James, don't give me any tickets for the raffle and treat my raffle ticket purchase strictly as a donation. Thanks!

<--- thinks trevor should donate his tickets to me, since my near minimum wage @ss can't afford it..

But seriously.. James are you doing drawing from a box with actual tickets, or some kind of lottery ball type contraption?

Trevor, Any suggestions on how to draw it?

James ... the YoDude raffle was done this way: After auction ends, go to paypal and download a spreadsheet of all activity between the dates the raffle began and ended. I deleted all non raffle activity from the spreadsheet and then deleted all fields except first name, last name and amount. I then duplicated people's entries for how many tickets they had. Example would be if you bought $30 worth, I would duplicate your name 5 times (plus the original entry makes 6) ... I would do this one by one and delete the amount afterwards. I would then double check against the "master" spreadsheet (save a copy before doing all this) and then print out the spreadsheet will all the duplicated names. These would be my "tickets". I then proceeded to cut them all apart and place in a big bowl and had my sister-in-law draw one winner and my brother-in-law draw the other (YoDude raffel was for 2 items). Same system was used for the MSDS Headers. This is very time consuming ... expect to spend about 2-3 hours preping for the drawing depending on how many people enter.

The TireRack.com drawing was done electronically this way: Same system as before except I used the date/time column and assigned sequental numbers (ticket number) based on first come basis. When all is said an done, I would have x-xxx tickets assigned to their rightfull owners. I then ran some ColdFusion script that would pick a random number from x-xxx and this was recorded in the DB. In the future, I hope to have the whole process automated so that I don't have to assign the numbers myself. This script by the way is a completely random number generator based on a range of values, you merely specify the start and end number and it chooses one for you. Chances of winning come down to complete luck :)

Hope this helps ;)

<< I hope to have the whole process automated so that I don't have to assign the numbers myself. >>

In the cell for ticket number 1 (let's call it cell A1), put the number 1
In the cell for ticket number 2 (cell A2) enter the following =A1+1.
Copy this formula and paste it in cells A3 through the last ticket.
It will automatically generate sequential numbers (at least it will in Excel).

hehe ... you think soo small time ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of completely automated using PayPal's backend. It is possible, but a lot of work and many headaches on my part. The "system" would be set up on my DB end so that I could create a raffle using the Forum's backend admin console. Whenever I got a ticket sale, PayPal has a system where they will send an HTTP Form Request to a given address ... I could set up a ColdFusion template to take that Form Submission and process that info into my DB. Get the idea? It goes a lot deaper than simple spread scripting ... at least it could ;)

Well unless the support picks up, the concerns of picking a winner won't be too hard because we have about 19 names so far, none from today. I am sure with 16 days left, things will pick up, just stating the obvious.

Bryan1027- $5 isnt really that much, im sure you can afford it. Heck, if you win you get great tailights and help out the cougar aftermarket. Take it from me, I was rather hesitant to enter in the Y-pipe raffle because i thought there would be no way taht i could win, but one Y-pipe later i stuck my foot thouroghly into my mouth.

Well with what James is trying to do I antied up. I really don't like the tail-lights but I will always support the cougar. Whats the count up to James? And those who haven't antied up yet, just remember how hard it's been to get mods and get them cheap.....keep the raffle alive.

NECO Members who haven't participated.... we could really use your help. Unlike previous raffles this product wasn't donated

The response of this raffle has been great. The design team is currently working on the manifolds to see what can be done to acheive more power. So far things are going good.

Bobnoxious
01-24-2002, 11:54 AM
70 would be $350, why the weird dollar amount collected. Did someone mail in pennies?

MercMobile
01-24-2002, 08:06 PM
James, Monogodo and I tested this out the night he set it up.. for some reason everytime the amount was changed by multiples of 2 it would add a penny.. So if you bought 10.. it would be 50.05, 6 would be 30.03

ProjectCougar
01-24-2002, 08:16 PM
No actually the wierd amount is because paypal takes 2.5% out plus 30 cents...
