I just got back from the dealership and they said they can possibly give me $7000 for a trade in, possibly more. I'm gonna let them keep my Injen Intake, JVC headunit, and 12's, maybe that's why. By the way it is black, but I decided to go for a 99 right now because they're really cheap and I can't afford much else other than that. 25k miles, MTX (weeee, finally), moonroof (mine didn't have that), and only 9k and some change. I checked out the history with the VIN number and there is nothing bad in the history. Some old lady owned it, you know one of those older rich ppl who trade in every year. I should be going Monday or at the latest Tuesday to pick it up. Now to learn to drive a manual before Saturday.

Crystal, do you mind if I follow you to the meet???

You should really take out atleast the subs and the intake. They never pay extra for it cause they are just going to take it out and keep it anyway. Ask them if it is OK for you to take them out and they shouldn't have a problem with it. Good Luck.

They actually are gonna give me a better deal if I leave the stuff in there. Besides, I had planned on getting a new intake anyway, and I was gonna switch out the radio for an XM radio, and put in a DVD/CD player/screen(s). So I would be getting rid of them anyway. By the way if I can't find anybody to do my radio/electrical work around here, and do a great job (not a slap a$$ one like my car is now), does anybody know of someone that can do a good job. I thought about talking to Keane about getting whoever did his work to do what I want as well. But we'll see, someone in Hickory might just be able to help. It'll make my mom happy, to see that I'm gettin rid of that stuff anyway, she hates it. But as soon as this car goes in my name she said I could do whatever I wanted, so as I already said, it'll be replaced soon. Very soon.

Thanks for the comments UNC.

Jason

PS~the reason they will pay extra is because It's a small dealer, and the guy I'm working with says it will sell better around here with something already done to it. So he's happy that I'm gonna leave it in there.

Thats cool that they are willing to give you extra for it. As for Keanes car, The Hack Shack did his car. They are located pretty close to me now, they moved a little while back. Check around, there are alot of good places around, go to car audio shops and look at some of the pics of cars that they worked on. That should give you some idea of whether or not you should let them do it. Good luck.

Thanks for the info again. For now stock CD player will be there, probably for the meet as well. hmmm my car will probably be completely stock for the meet, except for the sidemarkers. Clear with Aluminum backing. Oh well, do you, UNC, or anybody else have any ideas on a good color combination with black, other than red?

Thanks for the name UNC.

Anything goes with black, but I'm sure if you asked a woman you might get another response :)

Electrical work is easy, and easy to do right if you take your time. You can save loot by buying the power wire and equipment seperately, for some reason the kits are more expensive. Just remember to run a big enough wire to your amp, I had to run 4 guage, and don't skimp on the ground wire either, it can start fires if the ground is to small, I know from experience.(luckily I found it before my car went up in flames, but the wire was burned clean through) If your going to be pulling alot of juice you may want to go with a bigger alternator as well.

Dealership REALLY SUCKS A$$!!!!! First when we started to go through with the deal and he brought me the papers to show me hwo the prices were laid out, he showed the base price as being 13995 and a little change, and I was like um what the F**K. He'd told me just the day before that it was the 9k price. So my mom and I (yes she was with me, couldn't get a car without her being a co-signer) were already pissed because of that.

Then my mom asked why the car was traded in and if there was anything wrong with it. Now this is where I pretty much just said F**K the whole deal, but I let him continue. He said he wasn't quite sure who owned it before, or why they traded it in. . .then he proceeded to tell she and me about how he was pretty sure that it was some couple that was going to have a baby soon and needed a bigger vehicle. When he left my mom looked at me and frowned, because we both knew that the day before he had said an old rich lady who owned it before traded it in for a newer one. One of those that trade in every year on a new car. He couldn't even keep his false stories straight.

So I said well, it's a really sh!tty price compared to what I could get with a new 2002 C2. But I said to let him go ahead and we could at least see what the monthly payments would be. So we did. And after about a twenty minute wait on the finance guy he came out to tell me some more sh!tty news.

Just to let you know I bought my cougar in November of 1999 brand spanking new with 12 miles on her. the price was 19k with a discounted price of 16k and change. I put down 8k on it and ended up with payments, after finance charges, of $296.25 per month. NOW this finance guy is trying to sell me a 3yr old car with 25k miles on it ,when I'm putting down a total of 6.5k down (after my trade in and pay off, and extra that I personally would add in), for 349.95 over a 60 month period. . . . . .anybody else see anything wrong here. I doooo. $50 bucks more a month for a car I already have, sure it has half the miles on it that mine does, but in general manuals cost about $815 less than automatics anyway (at least in our cars they do). And I would be starting another five years allll over again, with a higher payment.

My mom and I both said HELL NO!!!!!!!!! (sorry for that, a moderator can edit if he/she pleases)

Then the finance guy got his boss and they came in and changed something. I would still get full new 36k/3yr warranty, and gap coverage, but now the payments would be $294.25 a month. oooooooooooooooo $2 dollars less. Now that's really gonna save me a **** load of money in the end isn't it????

Needless to say I did not get the car, but my mom said that since I learned a good lesson, that I could get Duel Exaust for my car, and maybe a few other things like rims and springs and such. So that made me happier. Now to just order the parts.

OH and to make things a little worse today. Remember the thread I started that said something like "how much is this gonna cost" Well I had one guy check it out today. He said I didn't have to replace my bumper, that he could fix it on his own, and he could pull out the dents. But that it would cost me $986. Now granted this is cost of parts and labor, but don't you guys think that it would be better for me to get some aftermarket bumper and get it replaced and painted.....then get the dent's pulled out either now or a little later when my funds get back up?????

Please I need A LOT OF INPUT ON THIS.

There are three things to take with you when you go to the dealer ship, a hope, a prayer, and some vaseline. My father helped me prepare for my trip to the dealership. I knew what the dealer paid for the car, I knew what the msrp was, and I had the advantage of 2000 buck back, 500 bucks in cougar cash(some dealer thing), and a 400 dollar college discount. His first quote was something like 19,500, we just laughed at him and broke out the price research we had (they hate it when you know what they payed for a car). I ended up paying 15,800 for a 2001 mxt with sport and convenience packages. Even with all I had off, the dealer still made a decent profit. So just remember, hope, prayer, vaseline.

I wouldn't pay that much to get it fixed, it would be cheaper to either buy an aftermarket one or try to find a factory one at a junkyard that is in good shape. Maybe even one with your factory color.

lol, they gave me the exact same "a young couple owned it and they had a baby and needed a bigger car" story. I really wish I could afford a new car and avoid the BS dealers give you with used cars. Hang on to that car for a couple months and see if these dealers start offering 0% on 5 year loans. You could get a new V6 for around $300 a month.
