Hey I'm Mike and I'm just curious as to what everyone's times are? I ran 15.7 at about 88.56 But it was (of course) the hottest day that Ohio had last year and everyone was running slow. Plus I only had my Weapon-R, ASP Underdrive pulley, and my proflow on no Venom. So post your times and be truthful no bs.

tahnks man

I not sure where I rank now but my last run was a 15.14 @ 89 MPH with intake and exhaust a couple of months back.

I do remember Nord68 ran a 14.98@ 95.51 MPH. Here's a link to that thread:

wow your time was alot better than mine I'm hoping to get into the mid 14's this year and I'll do it. My Venom was just recalibrated (for the second time) and my cat is running sweet. Headers on their way exhaust on it's way and I would like to put a SVT intake man. on

Plus this year I'm not racing in 90 degree weather

gyger
01-03-2002, 04:40 PM
nord68 hit the dragstrip a couple weeks ago and pulled in the amazing time of 14.98@95.51 mph!!!!! w0w!!! all hes got are weapon-r intake, pro flow maf, and borla exhaust... holy moly good job eric!

Text

man that's sweet I should easily hit mid 14's I have all that he does and more and I've been racing at the track since I was 17 I'll make mid to low 14's if I have to blow my motor trying

heres mine, ran with intake (kkm) and exhaust(pacesetter-don't dawg) , with spare and sub in car

Yeah Grand Nationals rock nice job man your friend lets you race his ride like that??? That's sweet.

And nice job with the 15.38 what was the temp outside? You beat my old time.

kilkenny
01-10-2002, 02:54 AM
temp was around 70 degrees, still itching to go again sometime, gut the inside of the car, run in 50 degree weather, and run a 14.99

num1goalie
01-11-2002, 02:55 AM
i ran a 15.2 @ 89 mph

only had a yodude exhaust too!!!!

Lostfu
01-11-2002, 01:42 PM
Man, if you ran a 15.2 with only an exhaust, you need to break it down for the rest of us!

What RPM did you launch/shift at?
Tire pressure?
Seats/Spare removed?
60ft?

I might be running this Sunday so I'm looking for something I could change in my technique.

num1goalie
01-12-2002, 08:37 PM
Alright, well I dropped my front tire pressure down to 19.5 and took out my spare tire. When I got to the line, I was just below 4000 rpms, i dropped the clutch and then shifted at 6500 rpms till the end!

I have figured out that next time I will inflate the back tires some and then shift at around 7000 rpms for the second and third gears, gonna see if that helps...

Wow man that's pretty slick but once my fuel pump or whatever is wrecked on my ride gets located at the dealership <------(very unhappy to work on my ride). I will be desimating all. So check this out right I'm driving home from work and I stop well dude behind me doesn't, black very tight Audii hits me. So two days after, I call his ins. company and they are like "sir we are going to have to make the check straight out to you". So when I get the estimates today I'll fax them to the Ins. co. and my check will show up. HMMMMMMMM did I hear someone at my door oh yess it's the mail man with my MSDS headers (ceramic) and y-pipe. And then I'll be picking up a nice fat SVT upper intake with matching throttle body oh yeah that's nice. See the headers were already on order. So I'm getting the Street Weapon body kit the SVT intake . The funniest part is the damage (a couple of scratches, and a lil chunk taken out of my rear bumper). Man I can't wait until Compact Nationals this year *Grinning friggin ear to ear* bye bye lil civics
Thanks for listening to me I'm just super happy right now. I'll get pics up as soon as everything gets here.

Num1, how are you droppin it at 4000 RPM's?

Anything over 2300-2500 and I break traction...you must be riding your clutch like crazy. How long do you hang on the clutch for?

num1goalie
01-20-2002, 04:39 AM
I drop the clutch and its spin city from there, only for about a second, and then im flying!!!!

Even though my tires are peeling out, i still got a lot of traction and it launches real nice that way...

What do you have for tires? Stock?

gyger
01-21-2002, 03:07 PM
Not like anyone cares but turns out I'm able to save the cash up and still get the svt parts but no body kit and the insurance check covered my rear bumper that the guy slammed into.

Has anyone ever gone any faster than a 14.98

with nitrous, S/C, or turbo they have.

slickcougar
01-27-2002, 11:35 PM
Who and in what combo and car

gyger
01-28-2002, 11:44 AM
Alot of people claim to have gone faster than 14.98 without turbos or a supercharger but I'm yet to see a time slip and a matching car. I think I'll break into the mid 14's this year. LIM and UIM on the way with 19lb injectors and a custom fuel rail. Also my MSDS headers are on their way right now, with the current mods that I have going now and a nice temp outside I think I'll be running pretty quick this year. We'll see what happens I have to wait until winter is over though.

slickcougar
01-28-2002, 08:10 PM
Do you think I can break into the low 14's with Nos and engine mods in an ATX

num1goalie
01-29-2002, 02:11 PM
an ATX..............mmmmmmm not likely!

You might be able to just barely dreak into the high 14s though....

I'm goin to race this saturday with an intake to go with my exhaust, and its expected to be in the 50s out there.......... more HP!!!!!!!!!!

slickcougar
01-29-2002, 04:40 PM
What about a turbo at 5 PSi and SVT Conversion

gyger
01-30-2002, 11:52 AM
I think you'll beable to make it into the 14's. Even with an ATX the maximum HP you'll loose is 5-8. And putting NOS on a six cylinder car will give you a boost of 45-90 HP if you use dry NOS (which is supposed to be safer for your motor). These figures are coming from NOS themselves. Not me guessing. I'm easily going to run high 14's this year with all the mods on my ride a nice temperature and the MSDS headers and SVT lower intake (with 19lb injectors and fuel rail already installed) that should be showing up on my doorstep this week. I'm looking to get the Throttle body and Upper Intake somewhere online Ford want way to much for it. I say good luck to you man and don't blow yourself up!

I have only ran a 15.77 at my crappy track here in CA... it is at 3000ft elevation, the launch box has little grip, and halfway down the track there is dirt/sand all over the track since it gets so windy where i live and the rock/sand quarries are right next to the track.....

I need to hit up the new track this spring after i get my larger MAF, 19lb injectors, and S-AFC........even at my crappy track i should be at low 15s by then, which equates to faster than 14.98.......

Ok, i have a 99' mtx v6 with exhuast(pacesetter w/ removed resonators) a kkm intake, a b+m short shifter and a svt uim and tb i also have a superchip on the way. With this how fast should i be running i ran another cougar out here w/ custom magnaflow exhuast, a kkm and superchip and b+m short shifter, keep in mind i did not have my superchip yet and beat him by about 1/4 of a car. I raced a Buick Supercharged and lost by about 2 cars in teh 1/4 mile. That car should run a 15.8 or a 15.9 we've calculated that so what do you guys think i am running? maybe a 15.3ish? Also i have my traction down at 3000 rpms now no wheel hop. I am trying to make my car run faster then my friends rsx type s w/ magnaflow exhaust on it. He ran a 15.030 so i realize i need a lot of parts and i am well on teh way soon i am getting a catco hi flow cat put on and maybe the svt lim and then maf and the list goes on but yeah let me know Thanks Mike

dv6cougar
02-02-2002, 04:54 AM
Ok i messed up on that the buick supercharged runs a 15.18 or a 15.19 or so haha opps

num1goalie
02-02-2002, 11:13 AM
alright, well with all those mods you should be running faster than you have, but you have to consider some of the factors: Temperature, height above sea level, how good of a driver you are, how good of a driver your opponent is.............

Also, I've been told that for every car length you lose by, thats 1 second slower.... could be totally wrong, but thats how it was explained to me

Draxas
02-03-2002, 06:40 PM
Another cheap mod that will help with traction a little (or at least wheel hop) would be to replace your engine mounts with some Energy Suspension PolyUrethane bushings.... or inserts.... this helped me a little. There are SOOOOO many factors involved when racing at a track it isnt even funny....Just keep practicing and your times should improve.... Too bad we dont have a Sea Level track in CA that is good ....you would think that since the import/racing scene is so big in CA that we would have tracks all over the place.....and then citizens complain about street racers and how dangerous they are, but they wont approve or support the building of legitimate drag strips because they are too close to their houses and are too loud..what morons....

Num1goalie, quick Q:

When you dump it at 4k RPM's and the tires start spinning, do you step on it, or do you hold it and when the tires grip then step on it?

What did you run on 2/2?

gyger
02-05-2002, 03:46 PM
Furious 1 i was wondering what you ran in the 1/4??? I have close to the same parts that you have on your car. And I just got my MSDS headers today. (yeah) Also I was wondering if you could suggest a place to get my UIM I have the lower and Throttle body but I can not find a Upper SVT Intake

Thanks
Mike

Haven't gone yet, as all besides my I/E was putt on during winter (all within last month) and since I live in Mass, the track's closed right now. As soon as it opens I'm there and will be posting times...I'm itchin for it :)

Unfortunately BAT is all out of both UIM/LIM right now. You could get them at the retail which is a steep $500 avg. You could try Downs Ford (732)349-2240 ext. 941, ask for Auggie, they discount. Or you can try to find one from a junkyard off of a Contour SVT.

Either way, congrats on the MSDS...that along with the Venom and the SVT stuff you should have no problem dippin into the high/mid 14's...make sure you run a low PSI on your tires (most do good with about 20-25) and practice launching. I recommend an exhaust (didn't see one in your sig) and a high flow cat. Make sure you calibrate the MAF for the 19 lb Inj. and, not sure, you should check to see if the Venom also needs to be adjusted for this.

gyger
02-11-2002, 03:21 PM
Yeah I already talked to the guys at Python injection about getting my Venom recalibrated. I'm trying to find a good exhaust that I can order. I like yo-dudes prices but I can't order over the phone. And I talked to the dude at fordpartsonline.com and the lowest I could get on a UIM was 541.00 Ford raised the prices three weeks ago. From 505-$632.00. Thanks for the tip on tire pressure I appreciate it.

Hopefully by this upcomming race season (spring, summer, or fall), I'll break into the 13's all NA. My customized engine parts are in production right now...and when finished, my car will go under the knife, be disassembled, and the reassembled. A short list of my modifications are...

-Quaife LSD
-Fidanza Flywheel
-Clutch (undecided on this as of now)
-Koni
-H&R
-Proflow MAF w/ optimizer
-Apexi SAFC
-Custom intake setup
-SVT Upper
-SVT TB
-P&P heads: Full P&P, HPC coating inside and out including the valves and springs, Larger 35mm Valves
-Port matched lower IM also HPC coated
-Custom ground Cams to match flow rate of heads
-Custom high compression pistons 11:1
-Bassani exhaust
-Yodude y-pipe w/hi flow cat (may be switching to headers)
-PAC chip
-Weight reduction (fiberglass body parts, rims, race seats, removed some interior parts)

Etc...i got more but don't want to type anymore...I think I'm good for a 13 second run. I want to run a sub-14 sec 1/4 mile all NA and street legal (muffled and on street tires)...then I'll do a run street illegal on drag radials. I just want to run a nice 13.5-13.9@ 100+mph...and i'll be happy...

With current bolt ons...I am at 172.9whp...so i'm doin well...

I don't know what I'm doing right, maybe technique, but my current recorded time is 15.24 with only I/E.
Bone stock I was doing 15.4-15.6 at the track, trap speeds between 88-91. I seem to get really good 60 ft times also.
Fastest stock 0-60 with the GTECH was 7.2 something over 2 years ago.
Fastest 0-60 now with the GTECH is 6.98 (posted about this a few months ago, I was a happy mofo, hehe).

For what its worth, an SVT Contour that I usually see at the track does low-mid 14s with very few mods. Cougs with SVT UIM/LIM/TB and I/E shouldn't be too far behind. I've spent a lot of time learning launch/shift techniques, getting better traction with the tires before launching, and most importantly, how NOT to bog in 2nd gear. Still learning, and still modding.

Damn fine runs man way to go. Yeah the biggest thing I'm worried about is launch I really hate to beat my car so it hurts me to race but I love it. Also I find when I launch as suggested by others I get horrible wheel hop. When I get ready to race and I stage at the tree I slowly start to rev until it gets higher and higher by the second yellow I drop and go. I've only race my cougar three times.

But I raced my 1978 4wd F-250 (351M 400 Hooker headers, Weiland Stealth Intake, Holley 650, MSDS Coil, Summit plugs/wires, compeition cam, rebuilt motor altogether, 4.11 gears, Dana not a 9 in., K&N big top, Two Turbo1 flow mufflers and aluminum bending fan. Fastest time was 17.3 in the 1/4 mile) 17.3 in a fat ass truck with 36in. Swampers 2.5in. lift back and 2 in the front. I love that truck this summer I'll take some pics and post.

...and red lighted three times.

If you're puching it on the 2nd yellow, you either have a one of a kind christmas tree, or you're in need of a tune up. On a non pro tree, react to the 3rd yellow and you'll be pretty consistent.

Best in the cougar was upper 16s to low 17s and that included intake and exhaust mods :( but was an ATX.

Tonight I ran some tests with the Gtech. . need to get my launch better though as I was off most times :( But pulled 1/4 14.5@101.3mph. Bone stock Mustang GT.

My goal is to hit upper to mid 13s when everything is done. intake, exhaust, gearing, blower, chip :) should wake this car up.

Plan on going out to the track soon and get some real times down. The Gtech is close from what I've heard but nothing beats the real deal :)

Yup I've been talkin about hitting 14's since I joined NECO and I think July 20th I will finally make it even in the hot ass weather out here.

SVT LIM with 19lb injectors, SVT TB
Weapon-R Intake
Apex Dual Funnel Filter
Roush Springs
OMP STB
ES engine mount inserts
Venom 400 Control Module
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Taylor Plug Wires
Bosch Platnium4 Plugs
MSDS Ceramic Headers
and Y-Pipe
Yo-Dude Dual Exhaust
Pro-Flow Maf
Battery Relocation and ram air set up
and car completly stripped out weighed in at 2,890lbs

Putting on this weekend Derale Oil Cooler

Don't get all offended. I'm just asking because honestly. The kid Brandon I was reffering to before has a friend in Indiana I think and the kid has 100shot Level 10 Trans upgrade and as many bolt-ons as me and is hitting a 14.3-14.5 I believe. That is why I'm curious. Good job if all is on the up and up 14.5 is a great time. Especially for the ATX. I wonder what I would hit if I ran with a 75 shot.

Making a trip to the track this weekend.
Yesterday a friend of mine (Contour SVT) got giddy, grabbed the GTECH and did some test runs in the 88 degree weather. Its always been fairly accurate for me, I ran a 15.3 on it the day before I got my 15.24 at the track, so I use it for a rough idea. Anyway, he pulled a 14.7 as his best, with just a K&N. I pulled off a 15.0, with a 15.2, 15.5, and 15.3 as well.

I'm finally installing my SVT UIM and TB this weekend since the weather report says the rain should finally stop (after about 3 weeks). And then heading to West Palm Beach to the tracks and getting some real times. I'll let you all know how it goes, I plan to break 14.9, and I think I can do it with just Intake/Exhaust mods. I'll take photos of the timeslips when I can.
