I downloaded Kazaa a few days ago and it totally messed up my computer. It was running obnoxiously slow, giving me all kinds of errors, rebooting itself, and overall was basically unusable. I came to the conclusion that the Kazaa software had a virus attached to it and deleted it immediately. My virus scanner didn't pick up anything, so I went through and manually debugged my system over the last two days... Everything is back to normal and running good, except for one thing... When I use internet explorer and try to log on to this site I get an error message that says "runtime error" and internet explorer shuts down. I can use the yahoo browser that came with my DSL service fine - it only happens in internet explorer - and only on this site. Every other site works fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program - but it still happens. It seemed to have started after the whole Kazaa thing... My question is: Does anyone else get this message??? I am hoping that this is just a coincidence that it started right after I picked up the virus. If no one else is getting this, any suggestions on how to fix it? I am very knowlegable about computers, and have tried everything I can think of short of format and reinstalling everything which I can't do because I have tons of work related software on my laptop that I don't have the original disks for. Any help is greatly appreciated! (I don't know if this is in the right area, but I figured Forum Issues would be the closest match. Feel free to relocate this!)
Thanks!

id try to just reinstall IE from microsoft.com.. if your not using 6.0, this would be a good time to upgrade, and it should fix whatever file is corrupt and causing IE to die. Or it might not and youll be reinstalling windows if IE is important to you.
Good Luck.

I already tried that... That is why I thought that it was possibly the website that was messed up. I don't know what the heck to try next! I got everything fixed except for that - and it is really annoying! Also, my computer has become a haven for pop up ads. Since I am using DSL and am always connected to the internet - they pop up even when I am not using the internet! I can be typing a mortgage loan application for a client, and all of a sudden I get a pop up for viagra... I need this to stop! Help!

Download Adaware and get rid of all of spyware that Kazaa installed....
... and why were you installing something like that on a computer you do business on anyway?

OK... I got adaware and the pop ups have stopped!!! I still get the runtime error, but for now at least the computer is usuable until I figure out what the problem is. Thanks alot for the suggestion! As far as installing something like this on a work computer... I bought the laptop for both work and home. I use it for work purposes during the day, and at night I use it as my regular computer and my fiance uses our home computer. So, that is why I put it on there. Biggest mistake I ever made! It was only installed for about 10 minutes before I deleted it, but that is long enough to do damage! At least I didn't lose any of my files at all... That would've really sucked seeing as I had to send my laptop off to our home office for a week to have all the business software installed. And my client database is priceless. I don't know what I would have done if I lost it - I would have had to start all over again! Everything is now backed up like it should have been in the first place... So I'll be safe next time something like this happens! Thanks again for the help!

Remove Kazaa completly. Then run Spybot and AdAware. Then go to Trendmicro and look for a program (freeware) called Sysclean. Download that and the latest pattern file from Trend. Run Sysclean. Once you do that, make sure IE is patched up and then find a copy of Kazaa Lite to do your downloads.
