Need help on painting the center console..

Ok, I think I know the answer....but being the dumbass that I am, I could be wrong.

I am painting the silver "insert" part of the center console. I completly removed it from the car, but I can't see a way to take the "insert" off of the console. I am hoping that there is a way to do this....at least remove the e-brake boot. Other wise I will have to tape it off...and I don't trust myself with paint. It would be hella easier to just remove the silver part and paint it, then put it back on. Plus I really don't want to drive around for a few days with no center console.

There's no way you can take off the silver part. You can take off the e-brake boot, but you will have to tape off the dark gray area.

Yea, I just spent the past hour taping everything off. Man, talk about a pain in the ass. But in the end it will look nice. :
