Alright, I have the JOIN, LOGIN, and EDIT PROFILE functions all working.

When everyone gets a chance, please JOIN, then LOGIN and EDIT YOUR PROFILE. When you edit your profile you can add more photos/change modifications/etc. Your profile can then be accessed with the url http://atomicinternet.homeip.net/newmcneco/members.asp?member=<MemberName>

So mine would be http://atomicinternet.homeip.net/newmcneco/members.asp?member=AtomicInternet

PLEASE EMAIL ME with any errors you run into. I'll tell you now that messaging, FAQ, and events don't yet work. All I need tested now is the JOIN, LOGIN, and EDIT PROFILE portions. I'm going to get the rest of the stuff working but it's easier with actual data in the database. Also anything that looks awkward or could be better, as well as things that are missing.

I have photos for Jaird Maxmartain (enter "members/jaird_maxmartain.jpg" for your Vehicle Image URL) and Keith Feldt (enter "members/keith_feldt.jpg" for your Vehicle Image URL). Anyone else who emails me (nuclear@nuclearfusion.org) with a photo I'll put it in the members directory and set your profile to display it.

Thanks guys

Brad,
Any idea why I get this error when I go to update the modifications section in my profile:

Proton Server: ASP error
Caterogry: Microsoft VBScript compilation
Number: (0x800A0400)
Description: Expected statement

No, but I'm going to fix it. :)

Does it happen after you SUBMIT your changes, or when you try to load the EDIT PROFILE?

If it's on the SUBMIT, can you tell me what you're putting in the fields?

I'll check the error logs, but they are mostly useless. What usually happens is there is a weird character and it freaks out. I'm trying to compile my list of ones to replace. (right now ' is replaced with *).

If you guys can either take a screen capture (PRINT SCREEN, then PASTE into MSPAINT) or copy the error along with the page before the error that would help a ton.

Thanks for everyones help so far. I'm spending all my time developing so I need you guys to test for me.

I'm also working on the line break thing for modifications. Right now you have to type in < br > if you want a line break.
I'm going to replace all vbCrlf with < br > and all spaces with *& nbsp ; from now on so you don't have to do weird HTML stuff to get it to work.

I'm also going to setup my secure FTP so I can actually DO this stuff instead of talking about it when I'm at work :)

ok i don't have a problem with people using our boards who aren't part of our club but NOT being listed as a member on our site, then allowing them to go in afterwards and view the contact info of us.... i think there should be some kind of verification process for everyone who creates an account that way we can stop others from just creating an account and later on viewing our info....

Brad, This happens when I try to submit the changes. All I'm adding is the line breaks between the mods I already listed. I have not changed andy of the other fields. I tried earlier today to modify my profile and make some screen captures but when I went to submit the changes I would get the same error as Chris (page not found).

Heather took your spot Chris. No way should anyone be allowed to join unless their from Mi or Windsor. I'm totally against people seeing my personal info that I don't know. How can we stop this all?

My Solution:

Level 1 Access:
The are listed with a profile and can communicate via messages.

Level 2 Access:
They are listed with a profile and can communicate via messages, plus view contact info.

Level 3 Access:
They are listed with a profile and can communicate via messages, plus view contact info. Also have the ability to modify access levels.

Level 2 Access is assigned if someone with level 3 access verifies at least two contact methods (email and phone, email and pager, etc..)
Level 3 access is assigned by me only if I have met the person face to face.

I fixed most of the problems with the site. I was limiting fields to a maxlength of 40, which I boosted up to 100. I think things were getting cut off. Also, you don't need to put BR in your profile anymore. The system detects line breaks and replaces them with the < br > tag and vice versa on edit. Same thing with spaces. However, should you need it, HTML is still enabled.

I also implemented the security schema as follows:

Level 1 = Basic
Level 2 = Full
Level 3 = Admin

I gave everyone I know personally ADMIN access. When you have ADMIN access you'll see an ADMIN navigation button that brings you to a page where you can administer everyones access. When you make a change that change is logged to your profile for tracking.

Once I get the message system up, every ADMIN will be notified when a new user applies. The first admin to respond should verify identity using the email and at least one phone #.

That being said, if you are currently an ADMIN (see the ADMIN icon on Login) and don't think you'll have time to check identities, please change your access to FULL. I'm going to try to limit the # of admins on the site. The only advantage of being an ADMIN over FULL is the ability to change user access.

By default, users start off with the BASIC and need to be verified by an ADMIN.
BASIC access only allows for messaging and profile use.
FULL access allows for BASIC plus view contacts

If you have a photo for your profile but don't have it hosted, email me. If you don't have a photo period find one on http://photos.cougarfest.com and email me the link.
