Everyone,
I signed Ohio up for a caravan plan on the Cougar Fest website. Link to Cougar Fest (http://www.nuclearfusion.org/cougarfest/index.html). Yep, it's a little early yet, but I just want to get plans started ASAP to allow as much planning time as possibly allowable.
I saw a few Ohio NECO members already registered on the Cougar Fest site. Everyone get signed up soon. We'll have to wait and see who the Ohio attendees will be along with the caravan schedule of the surrounding groups before we can get the Ohio leg organized. MC NECO and Eastern Canada NECO will be driving through my backyard down I-75 according to the official map. Please spill any ideas and feedback you can muster. :)
Let's make sure we properly represent Ohio at this kick-ass annual event.
The CAN-AM Bash will hopefully get our group a little more association with the attending groups. By the time Cougar Fest rolls around, we should be alllll set. :)
Catch ya' later,
Dan
Well, as the self-proclaimed caravan ***** I would like to add that I have mailed Puck and he's gonna keep me updated on their schedule, then I/ we can plan when and where to meet them. Glad to see the effort to take I-75- Even if any of you may have a faster/ shorter trip by going another route, you'll be sorry- This will probably be the biggest caravan ever(at least for cougars).
For those of you who have no idea what a good caravan is like, take it from me, I drove w/ the Pennsylvania caravan to the last two Cougarfests and it was some of the best times of the weekend.
Guidelines to follow to have a safe/ enjoyable trip;
1. Without going into too much detail, check all fluids incl. fuel, and air pressure, etc.
2. Money helps, and a credit card can be really helpful is something breaks en-route.
3. Ask santa right now for an FRS radio!!!!! This is KEY. Prices and options vary, so look around. Some of the best 1-liners and such were transmitted over the airways during the last trip. Ask Eric Ford, Al Ponchuno, or anyone else, and they will tell you how blocking, boxing, and meeting hotties at a food stand on the turnpike makes for a great drive.
Also, when cars get separated from the pack( and they will) it is invaluable to have a means to communicate- saves on cell bills too:)
I'll add more on this topic as the time draws near...
P.S. Hey Dan, I wanna run for an office- Maybe Road Pimp, or V.P. of Highway Tactical Management.

Sa-weet! I guess I should've asked y'all if you've looked into the caravan yet. :flushed:
So, it'll be WI-NECO, MC NECO, Keystone NECO, AND Ohio NECO meeting in Cincinatti. I guess we'll arrange our sub-caravans in route to Cinci' sometime in the future.
10-4 on the FRS radio - those things rock! A friend and I had headset radios when we drove some BMW's from Toledo to Columbus for a BMW dealer. Fun!! Especially the lines like "Look at the guy in the red car...WTF was he thinkin'????" and "I'd like to Smurf the Smurf on the girl in THAT car!"
Can't wait -- it'll be a blast!!
Hey, if anyone can think of a title for a cabinet position, it yours!! Caravan *****, Caravan Pimp, Blocker Monkey (haha), whatever, man. This chapter is a 100% democracy! I was hoping to title myself "The Official Weekend Alcoholic of Ohio NECO" or "The Official Digital Camera Mis-operator".
Stop it, you're killing me:biggrin: LMAO!
I gotta get a headset for my radios- too many close calls trying to hold the radio/ talk/down or upshift/steering/merging into and out of traffic/on&off ramps- think that about covers it.
Oh yeah, I have 2 radios, but if you want to use one it's SKIN TO WIN; Females only please;)

Hey guys - when is CougarFest exactly? My friend and I are moving to Florida for the summer (so I might have to temporarily register to FLORIDA NECO - no hard feelings fellas ;)). Hopefully its in the Spring tho, so we can go up w/ OH NECO - shorter trip.

Well Jim I've heard about you, gas stations, and caravans so I don't know. With that leaky tire of yours we might be
stopping quite often. We will have to think about it, hehe (j/k). As long as my schedule permits I will be going and
you and I can start with C2nZX3 in Akron. Maybe I'll convince my wife's friend to come with her green 99' even
though she isn't a NECO member.

I plan on meeting up with the Wi-NECO, MC-NECO, and others on I-75, since I live about 4 miles from the I-70 / I-75 interchange

I take 75 to school every morning :)
Just as a warning tho to those who haven't heard... Everyone's saying that some phenomenal number of cops are required to watch for speeders on a small stretch on 75 just above 275, b/c of so many fatal accidents around there this year. It's right around Trader's World and Middletown I think - Everytime I drive that little stretch I see at least 1 or two people pulled over.

I'll probably hook-up with MC NECO at I-75 and Rt. 20 OR I-75 & 795 and meet-up with the Ohio NECO-goers along the way and eventually in Cinci'. I live just off 75 between 20 & 795, so whichever works for me.
We should plot where everyone plans on joining the 'van to get this a little coordinated with the rest of the NECO's passing through.
Sttitch? Get on board! You're not on the Ohio NECO registrar (?) Are you joining the chapter, or spectating? (Not to influence you, but....just join...haha). I'll just add your name and email to the list. You'd be the 22nd member. Let me know.

Heck, I may just drive to Toledo to make sure Ohio is properly represented through the whole state:) Kinda outta the way, but so what, its only a lease that is about 20,000miles over already right?
