For $3k I got a 1996 Chevy S10 Pickup. It has absolutely no options which means instead of carpet it has rubber. Useful in winter. I put in new oil/coolant/plugs/wires/filters and the thing runs beautifully.

I'd recommend a truck/van for winter. That way if you still have it in the summer you can use it to haul stuff around in. Double duty.

Check out http://www.autotrader.com if you don't find any on the street.

This is my winter beater. I've used it for the past 2 winters.

If you decide to drive the coug this winter is REALLY recomend you get snow tires and perhaps steel wheels too.

Lets see.. winter of 99-00 $700 in damage to right front suspension from slaming into a curb on ice.

Then last year... $250 for a new stock rim after mine was destroyed in a pothole. Then later i slid into another curb and wasted some tyrod ends.... $60+alingment.

Price of snow tires+steel wheels is ALOT lower then those two little "incidents"

Please.... the cougar SUCKS in the winter...get a good set of WINTER tires and if you dont get taller tires... get steel wheels... beleive me... you DONT want to be stuck buying a stock rim in the middle of winter when you plan to get aftermarket rims later... its a really yucky feeling.

Once again I'll be driving the Cougar through the winter. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the tires I have on now. If not, I'll be getting a good set of snow tires. I really don't want to have to spend the extra money but if I have to I will.

Anyone here need some snow tires before the snow hits? I've got quite a few tires left at work and I can hook you guys up. The tires won't be a perfect fit-but what the hell do you want for $100-$125? Bridgestone blizzaks are the tire type. Have you put yours on yet Dave?

Hey Jeff, What size are the tires?? Will they fit the stock 16" rims??

I don't know if I have any 16" tires left. I sold 8 of them yesterday. (1 to a 98 gtp with 300+ hp. Now that is an automatic!). I've got oodles of 15". Let me check for you Dave. As a matter of fact-Iknow that I have 2 225/60/16's left. Not sure if I have a complete set of 4 though. My next day in work is Saturday. I'll put them on hold if we have enough for you.

I know I'm broke and I'm sure everyone else is, but thought I'd throw this out just in case:

Brand spanking new Stock Polished 99 Rims/Firestone Tires for $950.
Rims were replaced under warranty, never used. Tires are Firestone.

I was going to use them as my winter rims until I got my S10.

Let me know if you have them and what the total cost will be. I'll see if I can scrape up the money if its a good price. Either way I'll let you know on Saturday if I can or cannot get them. Don't want you holding them if I can't afford them now.

Holding isn't a big deal. I could get them for you for around $150 out the door mounted and balanced. probably $125 for those who have 15"s

Silly question. Is that for one or all four?

WOW!! let me know if you have the 16's. Can you get 215/60's or is it just the 225/60's? Just wondering how much the speedo will be off with the 225/60's.

It's whatever we have in stock. We're not carrying them anymore-so my boss wants me to get rid of them.

River: This is a killer deal! I regret I bought mine so fast: 500$ for 4 steel wheels and 4 Kuhmo winter tires (including 15% CAD tx).. Damn! The Blizzak are so much better..

Mine are still siting in my kitchen because of the speed rating.... i dunno if i can keep the coug under 100. heh. Ill of course wait till the last minute... like i always do... with everything.... no matter what...

Heh. Maybe not. But damn i dunno if i can handle not being able to pull away from noodle heads with 115mph speed limiters.

Hopefully you have 4 16's... After thinking about what happened to me last winter and what a great price these are, I really can't pass this up.
