Baiscally my car was in the shop and me and my girlfriend were going out so we borrowed my dads car. A bright red 2000 C5 corvette! Its gorgeous! We were coming home from dinner about 10:30 at night down a twisting road... it was dark and raining. I was doing the speed limit(35 mph) cause getten busted in this car would a be a tragety I never want to face. Here is the good part...

This guy in a Lincoln Navigator comes flyen up behind me on this huge hill. Riding my @ss like crazy! SO i break checked him ;). On the last turn of this hill he decides to cross the double yellow line and pass me... Absolutely crazy for the current weather conditions and his kinda of car. When I saw this .. I was like hey I am in corvette screw this guy! But by the time I hit it ... he was next me me. And then he tried to RUN ME OFF TH ROAD! He swerved right into the drivers side of my car! I slammed on the breaks and he just missed me. So then cuts me off and slams on his breaks. The he just drives normal like the incredible hurry he was just in was not important! WTF. So i followed him reported his car to the police ans stuff. Then after like 5 mins I turn off on to a side street to go back home. Well he spun his car around passed me again on the side street and blocked me off !! WTF He had a friend block me in the back. He then got out of his car and started to harras me! Well my girlfriend called the police cause it was completely crazy. Anyways they left cause there was no way in hell I was leaving that car unattended.... plus It was going to be just me fighting with an unknown amount of people.

Long story short.... its cool to drive crazy and stuff. But when you could possibly kill people other than yourself.... thats just not cool.

As much as I hate people who say **** like this.....

When he blocked me in, and I had no way of getting away from him. That is the point when I would have reached under the seat and pulled out the trusty Ruger P89. :)

Violence NEVER solves a problem, but if I was blocked in I would have looked at that as a serious threat.

I am glad it turned out OK and neither of you were hurt.

Yeah no kidding. It was completely ridiculescause I stopped following him. So it was all done .... the he instigated it again! If anyone has any cop friends I have their license plate number. I am seriously pissed off. I would have liked to have a gun.... unloaded just to scare him off, of he wanted to be a tough guy and start something. just be prepared cause he was obviously not in a sane condition.

What was the outcome? Did the cops show up, or were you two long gone by then?

I hate freakin' big SUV drivers. 90% of them are a$$holes who don't deserve to be rich.

one time a few days ago, I was driving into this rather narrow intersection, and my light was green. the SUV driver in front of me decided to wait indefinitely to turn right (probably until his cell phone conversation ended )
and at the NEXT STOPLIGHT (which had a breakdown lane after the intersection), I was already driving the speed limit and accelerating, but some big suv/small d!ck man decides he wants to pass 3 cars and cut in front of me. by the time he gets beside me, we're doing 50 in a 35 with <100 feet if road remaining in his lane. I blow my horn at him and I squeeze out whatever's left in 3rd gear, powershifting into 4th. he hits his brakes, squealing his crappy firestone wilderness tires and honks back at me. I flip him off and make a right turn at a speed his car would have flipped over at.

Long gone by the times the police showed up :(. I am going to call the police in the city we were in that night on Monday to see whats up. Hopefully they found his big ugly SUV after they cruises around that night. I dont know much about what is legal and what is illegal. But hopefully I can file a police report and have this guy messed with. Possibly earn some points on his liscense or atleast get get kicked in the balls.

Biggest thing is when they blocked you in, you stayed in the car. That was smart.

If blocked in, I would have found a way to get unblocked in and been gone like the wind.

Oh yeah, everyone would pull their gun, and scare the bad man away... it's so simple, isn't it? You think having a gun makes you bad? What if the other pulls a gun, too, and is not afraid to use it? What if the other guy is a hardened felon, just released from prison, and has no qualms about shooting some punk who thinks they're bad because they pull a gun? You better be damn ready to pull that trigger when you draw down on someone, otherwise the hesitation you have will be the last thing you ever do. Tough guys and their guns... :disgust:

I agree with Aelle about the gun. The guy already showed you he had road rage. Do you wanna see road rage with a gun? You'd end up on the 6 o'clock news.

The only thing worse than a "punk" with a gun, is someone mocking them with weak, generalized assumptions.

Not every gun owner is a "punk" who thinks he is a "tough guy". Most gun owners are responsible, trained, and very mature gun owners. Hell, anybody who owns a gun should have the frame of mind that pulling a gun out is the absolute last resort. And I think that most gun owners believe that. The first thing you are taught is that you NEVER point a gun at something that you do not intend to shoot. And if it's a person, you MUST understand that you will, in all likely hood, take that persons life. As I have always said, I personally believe that it is better to have a gun and never need it, than to need a gun and not have one. Since the first day I walked into a shooting class, I promised myself that I would do EVERYTHING in my power to never need a gun, and thus far I have kept that promise to myself. In my early twenties, I was involved in a few street scuffles, one including a moron with a knife...and I NEVER pulled my gun, NEVER even mentioned that I had a gun. I would rather risk serious injury to myself than to make the decision to take someone's life.

However with that said, if put in a situation that I needed it...I would have no second guesses about grabbing it. Put my family in danger, and you will not walk away...it's that simple. So if I was in a situation where my Wife and I were being chased and blocked in by two other cars, I would take the offensive and show that I am ready. If I had the opportunity to get away, I would obviously take that chance, but if not then I would be ready.

If put in a situation where someone chased and blocked you in, where you had no chance for escape...and obviously these people who chased and blocked you in are crazy enough to go that far, there is no telling how far they have already decided to go. What would you do? Wait for them to walk along side of your car and do what they want with you? Hell no you wouldn't. You would go on the offensive, why be a victim?

Personally I hope to NEVER be in a situation where I feel that my gun is the only solution...but if that day comes I am prepared.

So please don't make generalized assumptions based on ignorance, because you don't know me, the situations I have been in, or the decisions I am willing to make, and have made in the past. Because I have the scars to prove what length I will go to, in order to NOT use my gun....when it was right there with me.

Look, Fett, I know that there are people on this board that have firearms, and know the great responsibility that comes with owning one. If I made generalizations, I apologize. I'm just sick of always hearing people say "Man, if I had a gun I would have pulled it and scared the sh|t out of that guy". I don't have a problem with guns, or people who own guns. I have a problem with people thinking that pulling a gun on someone will solve their problem, whatever it may be. One of the things wrong with today's society is peoples' quickness to draw weapons on each other. The days when you would settle something by using your fists are gone. Nowadays you don't know who you're dealing with, or what you're dealing with. And I know that goes both ways. The other guy doesn't know, either. But it seems to me that a lot of people think having a gun with them will keep them from getting into trouble, or getting hurt, when the reality is that it might make things much worse than they need to be.

Again, if I offended anyone, I apologize. It was an instinctive reaction to something I feel strongly about. Perhaps in the future a little self editing might be in order. In any case, I'm happy that things did not go badly in this situation, an I hope no one here ever finds themselves in a situation where they have to make that sort of decision.

Hey Kootchie, you just got here, so how would you know I'm a troll? Shut yer piehole, Junior.

Fett
11-26-2001, 10:16 PM
Oh no, I am not trying to be a dick to any one peticular member. I just hate it when people make assumptions, hell those comments might not have been directed at me in the first place.

I agree with what aelle2000 said, to be totally honest. We hear stories of some kid who thinks he is a badass because he has a gun, and how he ends up killing someone over a pair of shoes, all the time. It's very unfortunate, and obviously preventable with education. But the truth of the matter is, for every one person who whips out a gun to be a "tough guy", there are hundreds of gun owners who are responsible and handle their gun with the respect it deserves.

Maybe not everyone thinks on the same level as I do, and God knows that I hope that I NEVER have to put my hand on my gun outside of a shooting range (or cleaning it at home), but I will not let myself be a victim. As much as I hope I never, EVER, find myself in a situation where I feel that I need a gun....I will not be found dead with my gun neatly holstered away in my bag.

LOL, you posted as I was typing aelle2000.

Again, I agree 100% with you. I know what people you are talking about, I see them at the range all the time. They are there swapping "I pulled out my gun and he ran away with crap in his pants" stories all day long...and it makes me angry. I know that as a gun owner, I am going to be lumped in with those NRA morons...unfortunatly. I just don't want to be. Like I said, I have the scar to prove how far someone can go and have me NOT pull out my gun.

I guess it's the same feeling I get when people talk about "ricers". I hate walking into a respectable shop and asking questions about cost of installing an exahust or other engine mod, knowing that they look at me the same way they look at a 16 year old kid who asks about putting duel exahust on their Geo Metro. I just don't want to be lumped in with those people. :)

it's cool, Fett. No hard feelings. Hey when you said you wouldn't be found dead with your gun holstered, that kinda reminded of a scene from "Unforgiven" with Clint Eastwood. It's the scene when the English guy comes into that town that Gene Hackman is the shereiff in, and all the deputies are in the office loading their guns. And there's one guy that only has one arm, but he's loading 3 guns. And he say's "I'm not gonna die for lack of shooting back". That scene always makes me laugh. Anyway...

Hey

"I'm just sick of always hearing people say "Man, if I had a gun I would have pulled it and scared the sh|t out of that guy".

If I had a gun I would have shot that guy. Want to know why. Well he treated my life and my girlfriends life like it was worth 3 minutes of his time. He tried to kill us because I slowed him down and he could have gotten home 3 minutes faster. People that dont deserve to live. My life was serisouly threated 2 times that night by the same person. I am seriouly pissed off. And anyone in that situation would be too. How would you like it if someone treated your life as if it were worthelss? Yeah you would be pretty ticked off. So I hope I make you sick. And I hope that you realize the error that you made when you made that comment twards me.

Alright, bud, this guy was threatening YOUR life? How about when you gave him that "brake check"? OK, I'll give you that, he deserved it. Alright, how about when he crosses the double yellow line to pass you? What do you do? I quote:

<< I was like hey I am in corvette screw this guy! >>

Why didn't you just le him cross the double yellow line, break the law, and risk his own life? NO, YOU have to show him a lesson, don't you? YOU have to try and prevent him from passing you on the wrong side of the road. So YOU speed up and try to keep him out, but he swerves into your lane, and the gives YOU a "brake check". Now, how are YOU any different than he? You could have let him go, but you felt that he violated you in some way, by tailgaiting you and then trying to pass you. So YOU end up risking your life, your girlfriend's life, the other driver's life, whomever else might have been coming down the road in the opposite lane, and your daddy's precious bright red 2000 C5 corvette. You're no better than he is.

Now, I agree the stuff that followed was uncalled for, and I too would have felt threatened, but don't try to come off like you're completely inoocent, because you're not.

If some one comes up and swings at you... you swing back. He wanted to drive like a jackass and ride my ass. Fine... the pay the consequesces. I am sure you get a little mad when people are driving up your bumper for no good reason. But dont come on here and tell me whether I am right or wrong. You werent there. I am sure you have made mistakes, but either way what went down was un called for. End of my story.

EDIT: I am done being pissed off at other peoples comments. Everyone reacts differently to different situaltions. Just dont come on here and quote what I say then slam me for my comments and then at the end go sorry if i offended anyone.
