View Full Version : Superchips vs. Diablo vs. others
I recently purchased a superchip for my V6 99 cougar. I installed a weapon-R dragon intake(which I love!) I also replaced the muffler with a OBX B3 muffler. I cleared out the cat and removed the resinator. My car is noticable faster but after reading everyones coments about the superchips, I wonder if I should return it and try a different brand? I think THe superchip made a difference but, I'm not sure! Maybe its in my head! Has anyone else tried these?

if you want to read a def negative review of the superchip, look into Morph's (FL neco moderator) message about it. Not sure where i read it, but i am sure you can msg him or do some searching on the forums.
I read some horor stories about the Superchip, but most of the stories indicate that they notice a problem right away. I haven't noticed any "problems", but I wonder if it really adds any HP like it says. Has anyone tried the PAC? I contacted someone from Diablo and they said try it and if I don't think it made a difference, I can just send it back. I think I might try that! To bad I don't have access to a dyno cuz I would try both chips and no chip and see what helps!

I think someone on here actually had all three chips and said that the PAC chip made the most difference out of all of them. But no matter what chip you get, it should be the last mod you do and it should be custom burned for your mods. So Wick, if you're planning any other performance mods, you might want to return the chip and use your money to buy something else. And if you didn't get your chip custom burned, you definitely need to do that in order to get your money's worth out of it. I personally will not buy a superchip solely because of the number of people who have said that they got very little or no gain from it. The Diablo and PAC chips are supposedly much better from what other people are saying.
Where can I get a PAC and how much do they cost? I'm pretty much done with my engine mods so I think I'll try another brand!

DeadPurple needs to get in here and clear up loose ends, he tested all the chips onj his v6 atx coug thoroughly doing 0-60 times with his gtech. I belive he tested the jet chip, superchip, and the pac chip and the pac chip was the best and game him a mid 7 second 0-60 with his atx coug and a lotta mods. Please Dead.. get in here!
I would love to hear what deadpurple found out! I think I'm going to return the superchip tomorrow. Does anyone know where I can get a PAC or Jet chip? Thanks again for all of the help!

Yeah Deadpurple did a test on the PAC, Diablo and the Superchip. They finished in that order as far as gains go. I believe that he has all 3 chips custom burned for his mods then tested them.

Wlee, I have a Superchip, and I know that it has made a difference. When theis dyno was taken, I had a Ractive Filter and Heat Shield, Borla Exhaust and Superchip. I am assuming that the gains would have been even greater if the chip had been custom burned to my car. Mind you that I have an MTX, and if I remember you have an ATX. That's where the HP differences would mainly come from.
Did you dyno before the chip was in?

No, unfortunately I didn't...but it's very, very, very unlikely that I gained 20hp from just intake and exhaust.
I'd have to assume that it was about 50/50...10hp from intake and exhaust and another 10 from the superchip.
