2001 Maxima GXE ???

I was going home one day and this guy in a new Maxima was next to me reving his engine. I was thinking that they have 221 hp engines and he obviosly had a stick compared to my atx. But the road we were on was kinda a turny road and 3 lanes. So when he took off I was like yeah i dont have anything else to do. Well we started at about 45 and I know you cant tell form the pic of my car but I have Progress Springs, basically car doesnt sway at all, its beautiful. So as we keep going i slowly gain... and gain...and gain. You may think its bull crap but I beat this new Maxima without nitrous. So after we went 2-3 times on this road he pulled in to a gas station, so i followed him, pulled next to him and said hey thats a nice car but whats it feel like to have your ass handed to you???

That was a nice kill, but what you said was kind of rude. I really hate people who are asses when they beat someone. Try having a little more class next time. If that had been a straight away, you would have had your ass handed to you.

my mom has a 2000 maxima GXE, that thing hauls unless ur at high speeds where it cant downshift 2 gears, otherwise the thing is a dog. first gear in that thing is SO fast.. 2nd is long and u can go almost 75 and the shift between 1 and 2 takes a long time when floored like 1 full second. i have an atx coug and it is no where near as fast as the maxima by a long shot, u must of gotten really lucky.

Thats the whole point was that striaght equals no fun, turns and curves fun. Forgot to metion he was an ass to me first being all on my bumper, and almost running me off road, didnt want to make story real long. but your right Catman if he didnt do all that I wouldnt have said that. Pppl in Florida cant drive at all. Well excpt for FlNeco

That's great man! I hate Maximas... used to race them all the time in my Camry but was always nose to nose with them or worse.. I just got my new Cougar MTX last week, did some mods to it and finally got my first taste of a race with it today against a Maxima.. (Lovingly nicknamed "Maxipads" now by me..) I didn't intend to race him.. but the jerk kept cutting me off without looking or signaling leaving Dulles airport today.. so we get out of the airport roads and on to Hwy 28... 3 lanes and no traffic.. the jerk takes off to the first light.. so I roll up behind him and I stare at him and he knew what was up.. He takes off from center lane and I move to the right lane and smoked him bad. Got up to the next light and he rolls next to me... at this point I notice hes got performance stickers on the side of his car and a Nology sticker? I thought that was Nitrous.. I think he was total bluff on that though cause I dusted him something horrible. No way there was nitro in that car.. At 60 he was way behind me. He tried again at the next light but I left him in the dust, again and I saw him get frustrated and swirved off the road somewhere. I am just happy I finally have a car that I can just whoop the crap out of those "Maxipads" with. Hehe <Grin> Another dash on the victory board to make Cougar drivers proud :cool:

Yeah, my mom just got a '98 Maxima. I dont know the hp on it but, damn. That thing can haul. It is an ATX and I can spin the tires anytime. 1st has a lot of torque.

What does a '98 Maxima have on HP?? I was very surprised when I first drove it.

Yeah.. dont get me wrong, I have alot of respect for the design in such a car, it does move, especially the new ones.. I believe the new 2002 model is running 265HP. I think the slightly prior years.. like 01, 00, 99, I think they run 221HP... I really dont know about the previous ones.. The one I ran was a 2000. I think the new 2002 would have me beat right now til I get the rest of my mods in..

Manx-you said you had some new mods, just out of curiosity, what are they, and what do they add? That's interesting that one 15-second car would completely destroy another 15-second car (assuming he was auto) so badly by 60mph.

Hey manx, i wouldnt go talk crap about a car you dont know much about, the only race a cougar would win against a maxima is a mtx cougar vs. atx maxima. a stock 95-99 maxima runs 0-60 in 6.6 sec. and if you were on the highway you would of got killed. stock for stock maxima is faster then a cougar

I got my butt handed to me by a maxima. Not sure what year it was. But I have a 2000 MTX with intake and exhuast. damn things are fast.

prob would have gave my old 98 gt stock stang a run for its money. Hopefully when I get my headers and SVT items I should do a little better.
