Why is there so little traffic on this board? Are there not a lot of I-4's running around?

I have a Focus I-4 and I watch this forum, but not many people are impressed by Foci. So I keep it a little quiet, I post my mods and stuff I am doing.
As of now, I am saving for a WW avenger kit for my Focus SE. I have a few engine mods, AEM intake, header, exhaust. I will have a chip installed, but I am waiting till I finish with the engine mods to have the chip burned correctly. :)
Note: This is the wifes car

Tank, if you have info on the zetec please feel free to share it here. I don't care if you have a focus, zx2 or a cougar. A zetec is a zetec

I would have to say that the reason that there is so little traffic on this board is because for some reason or another, most of the people that were "stuck" with the I4 are not interested in modification to there cars. Sad but true. Though I guess not all people were "stuck" with the I4. I know some of you probably chose it over the V6 for some reason or another. But I personally wanted the V6. But I got what I got and Im going to make the best of it.
And not to put down the female population on any of the boards, but you do know that the Cougar is aimed at women. And I would have to say that not many of them are not interested in modification either. Just as long as they have the car their happy I guess. So hopefully our group will grow so more oppurtunities will be given to our cars. Though the mod list to our engines arent to short. It could still be lengthened.
Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't say the people who have the i4 are not interested in doing mods.. I have the i4 and by spring time plan on having all my perf. mod's complete.
Including:
SHM Pulley's
SHM Throttle Body
Intake
Exhaust
and finally Stage 3 turbo.
When I bought my cougar the focus was getting big as was the aftermarket for it.. and I am now glad I have the zetec.

Never said I wasn't interested in modding... I just decided to make my car look good first then make it faster. I'm making plans to put in the Jackson Racing Supercharger by the end of next summer...

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. I didnt mean that any of YOU said that you werent interested in modding. Im a poor student also, and you can see the only modding I've done so far. Mabey I wasnt as clear as I should of been. What I was trying to say is that alot of the I4 Cougars were sold to non-modding people that dont even know forums like this exist. People that dont know you can upgrade performance and looks. Therefore, by comparing those who bought the V6 and ones that bought the I4, more of the ones that bought the V6 are more into modding than people that purchased the I4. Thats why there is so little traffic on this board. I was just trying to answer the question that redhawk asked. I didnt want to accuse anyone of anything. Sorry if I did.
I do wish that there was more traffic on this board. More people=more modding. More modding=more oppurtunities for our cars.

I think we knew whatcha meant...it just seems on these boards that most of us zetec people really don't post much about mods and everything...pretty much do it on our own...but we're very active everyhwere else....not many people here seem to like to own up to owning a 4 banger cougar for some reason :)

You guys don't realize how good you have (will have) it. Ford has totally embraced the Focus (and the Zetec) for that matter. We've always been complaining about stuff for the v6 and we have always had to look at the Contour guys for help. Jump on the Focus board and do some searching, you'll find a lot of good info. You guys already have a turbo kit for the car that rocks. i4 isn't as bad as you think.......

Oh trust me....i'm not saying i hate my zetec.....i love my car.....i love it for the zetec...cause i bought it for several reasons....first i got it for a great prices and second i saw it as a long term project car to enjoy.
We know all about the focus and all things zetec.....trust me.....we all have discussed this in person or over IM.....but sometimes the pieces don't fit exactly...so it's a trial and error and who's gonna do it first type deal....
don't think we hate our cars...it's a cougar none-the-less and i can only speak for myself...i am not unhappy with my performance, engine, or anything else associated with a zetec and i do not take the focus people for granted
That being said...many of us are waiting to see what the svt focus or the focus rs or whatever it is will have with it.....thats probably the main reason why we've waited so long for posting what we have etc....

The SVT Focus looks like a bright future for all the i4 cougars out there. When that stuff hits the markey you guys will be able to smoke my sorry ass ATX ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking. 280 - 300 HP would be sweet

The problem with 300 HP is that not only are there engine upgrades necessary, but also tranny upgrades... That is too rich for my blood... I figure that the 150 whp supercharger will be enough to put me up with the V-6's anyway...

But damn you i wanna be the fastest!!!!! See.....i figure by the time i get around to having this kind of stuff done......i'll spend the extra money and be happy......it'll be my little prject car of sorts :)

It would be something to be the fastest 4 cylinder automatic around...
0-60? Eventually
Just kidding... I still love that intake though.

wouldn't cost to much more for the engine/tranny work.. as according to Terry Haines, stage 2 comes with all the parts needed to build up the engine.

Just to add something here.
The HMS turbo set up will not require the extensive modifications to the tranny and engine as you might think.
The obvious issue is with close to 10:1 compression, adding a turbo almost always means internal and tranny upgrades.
BUT- Terry has avoided this potentially costly overbuild by developing a head "spacer" that will lower the compression.
Now, that being said, any of you with an MTX may want to consider a Quaife or other LSD simply because its a good idea, turbo or not...

so lets say we were seriously considering this.....which i am....is there any recommended steps taken prior to having his work done on the car???
redhawk

Yeah...
Call terry at HMS...
Tell Him Redhawk sent you...
Take a couple of days off work/ school...
Drive to Michigan...
Get turbo installed...
Drive home in half the time it took you to get there...
All kidding aside, I really don't think you need to do too much. call terry, ask him. He'll probably just tell you something along the same lines. Of course you don't have to drive to Michigan but you could get it installed by the guru that way.
