Going to see a movie lastnight my friend and I were driving a little bit before we had to meet up with some other friends, and I pass a Beretta going about 60 and come to a light. Well he pulls up next to me after switching lanes pulls up next to me and just gives me the lets do it stare, now this guy was atleast 45 and I'm still a teen so I wasn't sure what to think. But being a good sport I decide what the heck. So the light goes green, and I got a decent launch not the best but not the worst, and he has a good launch, it was an auto I believe because he never moved his arms to shift and no movement by his car. So after getting into second gear I am still neck and neck with him, well as soon as I hit third I blow past him, but he wasn't letting up still, I only got to fourth before I was a car and ahalf ahead of him and decided I would quit going since my turn was like 40 feet away, so I slow up and make my turn and he keeps going like we are still racing. O well I know it wasn't the best race but it was my first real one, since getting a name on here. So there you go

I love killing berretta's. Their owners usually think they're the fast compact on the planet

I was like what on earth is a Beretta?! So I just went and do some research...
Trim: Z26
Class: Economy
Body Style: Coupe
Engine Type: 6 cyl 3.1 L (155hp/185tq)
Transmission: Auto 4-Speed
Not excally fast are they....For a 3.1L
It's a start!! Nice kill!!:)

i bet Beretta's take mods really well.. amazing a 3.1L is only giving 155HP, but it is easy to see why he got u off the line.. 185TQ.

Berettas are older cars. I don't know why, but take a look at this, for example:
My 1986 Ford Thunderbird (AKA, the junkheap, now resides in a wrecking yard as a cube of metal):
3.8L V6 -- 125HP
Now, a modern 2001 Mustang V6:
3.8L V6 -- 190HP
Go figure. :) I realize that the fuel injection system changed from central fuel injection(throttle-body fuel injection) to EFI, and there were other changes, but taking the same engine, you can squeeze 65 more horse out of it without doing anything SUPREMELY drastic to it... 80's and early 90's V6's just weren't all that great, no matter what the make.
oh man i beg to differ. i had an 1989 oldsmobile 88 royale and that sucker could haul. had like over 200hp and 225 tq n stuff. the sucker could kick.. also weighed like 2 tons but weight doesn't matter right? ;)

Nice kill....the owners of those cars are USUALLY trailer trash from what I have seen....but whatever.

It kind of ticks me off that an adult was trying to get a teenager to race. Nothing against you Madcat, I'm sure you are a decent driver, but the fact remains most teenagers don't have the experience to handle problems that can come up when racing. EX: the thread on the kid who died when the guardrail speared his car. Someone who is 45 should not be trying to race a teenager.
Sorry just my $.02

Hey this is a former Beretta owner here. I had a 94 V-6 ATX and I love it. It was very quick off the line but slowed down after that. That car won lots of races (I wasn't driving it at those times) LOL. I had it for 5 years with no problems. And I am NO where near White Trash. You should watch what you call people because you never know who you will offend. I traded it in for my kitty in July and I miss it sometimes but I love the kitty to much.

it's a nice start but i have to agree with may (metallicacougs) about an adult doing that. you always hear about so called race junkies and people getting mad that "every" teenager is always trying to race. an adult should know better than that. no offense madcat. i'm not saying what you did was wrong at all. i just think that the guy you raced is a POS for initiating it.

in response to the "low" horsepower of the beretta, remember our 2.5's are DOHC 24 valves. The older probes that had the 3.0 were SOHC 12 valves and had numbers like 140-145, and torque around 150!
The extra cam and valves make a diff... still noticable in the new taurus, both 3.0s and a difference of 45 horses!

"The extra cam and valves make a diff... ". Yep, and technology is a huge part too. The Coug' makes the same hp as my last car, but does it with half the displacement. I think those older cars rerouted 80% of their exhaust back through the intake.

im not seeing the problem with an older guy initiating a race with a younger kid....

well, tomXR, i guess that i just have this idea that older guys shouldn't race because it puts people in dangerous situations. i guess there really isn't a difference in an old guy initiating the race or a younger guy initiating a race. it's just a stupid sterotype i have. it's almost expected from the youner generation but not from the older ones. racing is fun but dangerous. i guess that's what makes it fun. ;)

yeah yssupkat, i agree. lots of kids these days are overly aggressive (stupid) drivers, and therefore its expected more from us (me being 16). And in the end, the stupid kids are gonna crash and potentially end up like the kid in the gaurdrail accident, and the smart drivers (me...hehe) will keep on racin.;)
