i've been noticing this past week that my stick is starting to shift harder and it almost smells like its burning the clutch when i'm backing up. the car just ticked over 36,000 miles and i was curious if anybody else has had a clutch problem? thanks

my clutch went at 32,000 miles and then my tranny at 36900 miles, both cost me out of my pocket, 1100 for my clutch and 2800 for the tranny, ford sucks, they refused to cover my tranny under warranty when i complained of constant grinding into 3rd gear and the fact i was only 900 miles out of warranty.

thats what mine is doing... all though not TO bad yet... the 3rd gear shift is definitely the worst... it has a little "stick" to it before finally going into gear.

when u replaced the clutch did you use a factory one or did you upgrade it? i've thought about upgrading it to a better one in hopes that it would last longer.
thanks

Hmm... I fear mine is starting to go already (28,200), and my lease is ending in the near future (6 months or less). Would Ford replace this kind of thing if it DID go before the warranty ended? Or if I got an extended warranty? Or is the clutch considered a "normal wear item" and I'd get to fork over the cost for it?

The clutch has a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty unless it is determined the clutch was somehow defective and didn't wear normally

My clutch is doing that already and I only hav 12K on mine. I also have trouble every now and then with 2nd gear.

Mine shifted bad from shifting aggressively and then one day a part in the transmission tower broke and I got a $1000 tranny bill which was $200 for parts and $800 for labor. I am not exactly sure which part it was but it sounded like it was a bolt that sheared off somehow. Oh and it still shifts like crap after being fixed but that is just fords service.
