If your kitty is modded, then don't forget to unhook your battery every so often. My wife left the lights on overnight, came out to a dead kitty. Jumped her and the very next time I drove her I was like WTF?!? Very noticeable difference in power and acceleration. VERY NOTICEABLE!! So, if you haven't done it in a while, do so!:) Let it sit there for a while.

I remember reading somewhere that actually it should be done every X miles, but I can't remember the number. Anybody?

I recall Terry Haines saying that once a week is actually ideal

Once a week? That seems a little on the excessive side! That would mean that the computer would have to re-learn your driving and everything that is on the car each week. I'm not even sure if that would be enought time for the computer to fully learn the conditions.

I don't understand what the car battery has to do with Jumping your wife, or riding her once a week? Do I want to know. :)

haha...

i thought i remembered someone saying something along the lines of the car runs really rich for the first 15 miles or so. that being said, why would resetting the battery every week help anything?

on a different note, though, if that's true, and you DO (i do too) feel such an increase after resetting the battery, would it not stand to reason that if you richen up the mixture a bit, you'd actually notice a gain? it kinda makes me want to get an A/F ratio guage and perhaps an AFC...

My car doesn't run rich after resetting the ECU... maybe for the first the 5-10 minutes while the car is relearning its idle, but that's it.

Once a week would be pretty pointless.

Even after going through the OBD-II relearn steps (there is a specific sequence to use) the PCM still "learns" for quite some time afterwards.

I can see every few months for those that don't change something that often. I however seem to do it about once a month. Always modding or testing something... ;)
