does the y-pipe with cat fit the 2001 cougars it said 99-2000 on the website???
did you get the memo about performance parts on the 01's? jeebus

what memo??? only thing i know about yo dude is that the dual exhaust fits with some minor aadjusments to the 2001... i did see anything about the y-pipe

I didn't get the memo about performance parts for the '01 Cats either. I'm still "VIOLATING" my car so I'd like to hear any recommendations about parts to be added for more power and better handling.

actually.... NOT all 99-00 performance parts fit the 01... They changed the downstream o2 sensor location. It is now behind the main cat. The yodude pipe SHOULD work... You may have to splice some wire to make the o2 sensor reach... but it should work. The only downside is that if you gut your precats you will need to make a mil eliminator for that sensor... wereas the stock 01 ypipe design negates the need for a mil eliminator.
They also changed the duratec itself. It has quite a few minor diffrences that could pop up as a problem. It is far too blanketing to say that all parts will fit. Nitrous kit for the early 99's wont work... anything that relies on a return fuel system in fact will not work. Im sure there would be POSIBLE trouble fitting an intercooler designed for a 99-00 into the new bumper... Also... im fairly sure some of the aftermarket catbacks need some moding to make them not hit the rear bumper....
but... ill admit. MOST will fit/work just fine.
BTW. The memo was "Yes, all 99-00 cougar perf parts WILL work with your 01"
