Well, guys, I did it. Hurray for me, got a sponsor to pay for everything.... complete revamp of my car.... new paint, new rims, everything.... including limited performace mods cause the car is still under warranty..... BUt here is my dillema. I really don't want to work with last year's stuff, and neither does my sponsor, I'm planning on entering quite a few shows this upcoming season. I've heard rumors of a wide body kit.... but no solid information. If I'm going to complete all this by show season, I'm gonna need some info, figured I should start looking now... so here is my cry out to you guys, the ones that know thier stuff... PM me, or e-mail me at Airswila@hotmail.com.... willing to do just about anything, including thanking you in my acceptance speech for best of show... hehe, anyways, post here if you wanna help the new guy, well, new to my cougar anyway.... Thanks in advance.... - Chris

Honestly guys, I am soooooooo sick of repeating myself....
Here we go again...
My 2001 Cougar is in California (for those who don't know, I live in Virginia). My car is being used to make 3 completely new, never seen before body kits for the cougar. I can not give you pictures, release date information, price cost, or anything till all the kits are COMPLETE. My car is the first kit, but more importantly the one they are using to MAKE the kit. I will have pictures of ALL 3 Kits installed on my car when they are done! Expect complete information AROUDND MARCH. You will not be able to purchase anything till then. We still dunno if you can then! Its a new product and they are taking their time to make sure we don't get the same problems we have had with Andy's and Street Weapon. So I hope that answers your questions about the kits...
Now lets talk about sponsors really quick.... I hope I don't forget anyone while i say this but currently their is 3 or 4 of us that have major title sponsors... So here is some advice from me. Since you are new I will remind you I currently have 15 sponsors.
If your sponsor ever got the paragraph in which you just typed, you would be dropped in a heartbeat. Too many people, not just NECO members think Sponsors just hand over free stuff. You have to work your butt off for it and quite honestly, got to work even harder to keep it. I am proud to run every sponsor I have's product on my car and proudly promote it to other users. You state you plan on entering quite a few shows... have you one a show yet? Have you had a car that has one? I am very happy for you to be out there showing the cougar, just a little upset of people who use sponsors to basically pay for everything. I will not deny my new 2001 Cougar will be a running billboard of product and companies who helped me get it to where it will be, but I have worked my butt off to get here and will have to work harder to go further. Best of luck in your quest to a tight car, just don't use sponsors.

I would like to say Sorry in advance if this company is building your car for a big show to promote their business, like a SEMA Show or International Auto Salon.

Okay, well thanks for answering that highly asked question just one more time for me... And Congradulations on your hard work to get where you are, It's nice to see someone of your caliber and accomplishment give some advice to a new guy like me. However, I said I'm new to the cougar scene, not to the show car scene.... While my sponsor sort of fell into my lap, (they're not a major name or anything,) I'm not using them. I am promoting their abilities. My past cars, which will remain nameless and unspoken though I will tell you they were fords, have won quite a few awards in numerous shows.... Please don't take my excitement as what it seemed.... And thanks for the advice, I will take it to heart. By the way.... just one more time for fun.....Chroma, got any information on the new kits? hehe oh, and one more thing.... well nevermind, I'll PM ya....

Hey there Catnip,
First of all, welcome to NECO! You'll find that there are many WELL INFORMED and EDUCATED Cougar enthusiasts that you can meet here. They will be more than happy to help you out with modification advice and current product and pricing information. You'll have to forgive my skepticism, but I find it very difficult to believe that someone with NO show experience is going to take a BONE STOCK Cougar to ANY reputable company and have them FINANCE all your planned modifications at NO COST to you. Although I do not "show" my Cougar, I have quite a bit of knowledge of the Cougar, car manufacturers, and aftermarket companies (and their policies). It takes years of hard work and personal expense to land a sponsor. If there is a company that is willing to sponsor an unknown individual (and car) and finance all their modifications, please let me know. I would love to meet them...especially since I ALREADY have a fairly heavily modified car! By the way, if you are sponsored by a company, why is it that you don't already know about the products which are coming to market? I do, and have no sponsor!
Good luck to you and your "sponsor",
Charles

Okay, here is the answer for all the smart a$$ replies I've gotten so far..... I have over 5 years of show experience, mostly in the restored Mustang field, Pre 70-'s mostly.... so my experience isn't in mod ing late model cars. I've won plenty of awards, and have landed plenty of sponsors, had lots of experience dealing with them, and learned lots of things. What I don't understand, is why, you people, who know that every car starts out stock, and can plainly see that I'm new to the boards, cause I just freaking bought the car, want to tear me down and scrutinize my post, and questions... It just doesn't seem right.... the reason I don't know about the new kits being released for the cougar, is cause I don't know alot about the companies that make stuff for it... okay? got any more 3rd grade questions for me? I'll be happy to reply.... By the way to anyone who reads this and thinks my response is out of line, I'm sorry, but I don't respond well to outright insults....

CatNip9... I am happy you got new sponsors... with a past of 5 years, i am sure you can get more. You seem like you are not a teenager by all of your posts except the first... My reason for being defensive is we have alot of dreamers on this board around the age of 16-18 who just expect sponsors to give them free stuff. However the info bout the new kits stands! hehehe. PM me if you got questions.

Dont take anything to heart. The sponsored cars on this board have worked hard to get where they are and they do alot in return for their sponsorship. However, we have seen it time and time before where people come on this board claiming to have sumthing and then never producing:
1. Some girl in NJ claiming to have a Vortech S/C on an ATX Cougar
2. Guy from MD claiming to not only have an SVT engine in a ATX Cougar but also having "lambo doors" done, as well as some other perf mods that never came about.
3. A guy claiming he had twin turbos
The list goes on and on.
Hope you understand where alot of these comments are coming from.

Catnip,
I'm sorry if I've offended you, but when someone COMPLETELY NEW comes onto the boards telling EVERYONE how he's got this great sponsor who's PAYING for all his mods, I think it is only natural for those of us who have an understanding of the process to be sckeptical. Not only are my questions posed to you NOT "third-grade" in nature, but I feel that they are completely legitamate considering your introduction. I have no problem with anyone interested in modifying their Cougar and being interested in acquiring the latest information. I sincerely welcome you to this forum, as I did previously. There are just some of us that find it "interesting" that you have a sponsor who wants to PAY to have your car modified KNOWING that you have very little knowledge on the subject of late-model Cougars. I belive the fact that you brag of winning "numerous" (yet-to-be-named) car shows only adds to our speculation of your character. Again, my deepest apologizes for any insult I have caused you, and please do not take insult to my honest interest in your car and its sponsorship.
Sincerely,
Charles

I understand completely where the posts come from, just didn't expect it from you guys. I should have known, that this sort of thing happens alot, so I shouldn't have been too upset when you guys were skeptical, and I imagine you all will be until I show my finished product.... I don't want to give away my custom ideas, but I do have alot of experience in the auto body field, (restoring rust buckets helps, hehe). Thanks, for letting me know, that should I have questions, you guys will be around... I assume I can PM all of you that post on this, and you won't mind? Good.... just joking, anyways, I'm off to the drawing board, Chroma I will PM you sometime later in the month... gonna have some questions regarding past custom work you may have seen, basically - has this been done before? - Thanks again fellas.... - Chris
Charles, no hard feelings, I understand, but everyone is new to something sometime.... and as for my show car past, I don't really want to get into it, for I feel it is not necessary to prove myself in this venue, my finished work, and updates along the way should prove myself worthy of some applause when the time comes, sometime in late March, if the plans go as scheduled....
Oh, and as for the sponsor, it's an Auto Body Shop from Illinios, mainly restoration work for the past 20 years, but a desire to get into late model customization and such... It also helps that I have a family tie to the owner, and have worked there for a number of years...

all this talk of sponsors....
COUGARFEST 2K2 wants some
seriously though.. i will be putting together a package soon, i know a few of you who i will not named have said they will help me... however if others do want to have their sponsor their to promot their products that would be FANTASTIC.... just something that if your sponsor makes Cougar specific products, this is an oppurtunity to show their products to a LARGE gathering of cougar enthusiasts.... i'm sure many will also have money in hand.....

What are you talking about Caterina? I didn't see anywhere that Chroma was being an ass. He was just letting Catnip9 know some things about sponsors. If you had been around here when Chroma first started modding his cougar, you'd know that he had already invested a lot of time and money in his car before he got his first sponsor. James, I've got so much respect for you. I think if I were in your place and was working my ass off to help everyone else on the board just to read a bunch of comments like that, I would have stopped comming to these boards a long time ago. Thanks for not letting a few a$$holes run you off.

chroma
i understand that the "un-nameable company" doesn't want people calling them all the time asking about the new kits that are being produced, but chroma you have to understand taht being that you bring it up and are always giving info, you have become the face for the company and are getting exactly what they didn't want on their phone lines, in everyone just asking you the same questions over and over. and my main point here is if you don't want the questions asked of you don't bring up the kits in the first place or atleast till you have some pictures or something, otherwise you have to expect to be flooded with people just trying to get going who don't have the connections yet. and you always talk about how you started with nothing ut a new cougar and a dream and all that crap, then you have too under stand at some point you were dumb about this car too and didn't knwow everything that you know now, so give all us little guys that ask you (what seem to you dumb questions) a break

Thanks for all the replies, honestly I didn't think I came across too bad... its just funny everyone thinks I was handed things... I dropped 25k into my car 6 months before I landed my first sponsor.
Anyways I should have more information on the kits, Puck.. I will talk to my sponsors for CF2K2 and so forth. My whole reasoning to tell people about new kits is so I don't sell them a SW and Dragon Z and then in March they come yelling at me cause I have known since July of 3 new kits coming out.

I didnt think Chroma brought it up Jorgen.. I know many ppl out there have brought it up and James replied. You have to understand that alot of aspects of the kits cannot be released until the kits are, if the details are released you will see copycats very quickly and from a business standpoint its just not smart business.
Everyone needs to take things a bit lighter and not get offended by a single word!!
BTW - Welcome Catnip.. Good luck with everything.. Im gonna be lookin for the pics when your done ;)

You know what, I agree with the people saying that you jumped on his A$$. Whats the deal Chroma? Its fine that you give us your opinion and what not, hell even I recently agreed with you on a topic. But its times like this over and over and over again that you bring it on yourself. I dont think that could have been typed any ruder than you
You state you plan on entering quite a few shows... have you one a show yet? Have you had a car that has one?
You dont think saying this like that are rude. Its cool to help him out, BUT BUT BUT. Then you go on about you have 15 sponsors and its hard and its this and its that. WE DONT GIVE TWO SH!TS. You people have already given me one strike So give me another. I will tell you what though. I b!tched about you putting all your for sale items at the top of the sale list all the time. As soon as I complained I see that you all havent been doing that. So If I am one of the few that are willing to speak out about Chroma having his head so far up his A$$. You only get people saying ohh Chroma is right, oh Chroma I respect you. Bunch of kiss A$$'s. I gaurntee If you all wouldnt lock this thread or give people strikes it would be all out Choas on Chroma. Its just every one is afraid of your little strikes so wont post what they are really thinking. So here we go STRIKE TWO. Give me three ILL BE BACK. You cant stop me from the 7 aol screen names I have then the hotmail acccounts on those seven also the yahoo accounts. then all the yahoo accounts have hotmail accounts. So I have an endless chain of email adresses so there is no way I will ever be gone. I will be like a ghost to haunt you.

Keysersoze772: Why don't you learn what PM is for. Seems funny you rarely ever have anything good to say on these boards no matter whose topic it is. I careless if you come back, you will surely get the hint you are not wanted, needed, or anything when it comes to NECO Forums. However you surely will not be missed by myself and many others. Now as I have told you many times before, PM me from now on and keep your pissed off thoughts, comments, feelings off this public forum. Your language is not prohibited here.
If anyone should reply to this, it should of been CatNip9 and he did and has expressed his feelings towards my comments... Learn to shut up unless you got something worth while to say. Oh and FYI: You are not the reason for the change in the for sale section.
James
You can haunt me, but I will be your worst nightmare off these boards..
