In all my glory-

based on stangnet.com's HP calculator based on MPH, I gained 10 HP form the SVT manifold and TB. Of course that is not solid proof, but close I would immagine.

I'm glad you finally broke 16 ricci, took you long enough! I'm just glad the little ranger broke 17!

what elevation is your track at? My track is at 3000ft and my best there so far is a 15.77 @ 87
I took my car to the track on Friday but I was driving HORRIBLY.... i couldnt launch the car right and my shifts were really bad. I will be going back to the track in 2 weeks so I better run better times than I ran in August, especially now that I have the SVT stuff on my car....

Woah.. gotta work on that reaction time ;) Otherwise.. looks nice!

I need to work on EVERYTHING. My launch wasn't that great either.
The elevation of the track is about swamp, I mean, sea level. It was about 55 degrees that night.

with some more practice and some more time for the ECU to learn the mods, you should get into the low 15's ....... not too many more mods, practice, and some weight reduction and you should be in the high 14's....

I agree. For reference here are my mods-
SVT Upper/Throttle body
KKM SVT intake
Yodude w/dynomax

Describe to me how you launched your car? I need to re-learn launching my car since i cant hook up my tires at the rpm i used to launch at since adding the SVT parts to the car.... I hope that is a good sign of added power...

I launched around 2500 or so, but that was a slow launch. I shifted at about 6800.
It would seem the best RPM would be around 3500 and feather the clutch out.

yeah, i used to launch at 4000rpm and I was fine.... with a best 60ft time of 2.28 or so..... i tried that this last time and was pulling 2.5 60ft times spinning my tires... when i go to the track this next time, I will start at 2500 and work my way up to the best RPM for my car... I also need to do a really short burnout from a roll to get some of the junk off the tires and get them a little warm......
other than that, i shift when i see the needle getting close to 6500-6600 or so.....

I wouldn't burn out a treaded tire, it really dosn't do anything but ruin your tire. Infact if you've got treaded tires your just going to track water from the burn out box into the staging area and piss people off.

when i do a "burnout" i go around the water box, bring the revs to around 3000 and then dump the clutch....gives me about 10-20ft of tire squeal.... Just enough to get the junk off the tires and get them a little warm. I have yet to actually do a REAL burnout in the water box.... for the very reason you said not to........ When I get slicks, then I will....

Sorry, I thought you ment you were driving through the water.
I always laugh at the silly rice boys who track water into the staging areas only to rip off 18 and 19 second 1/4 miles.

what was ur 1/4 times before the svt mods?

i dont think the svt stuff helped out as much as u think b.c if u look at ur 60 foot times u will notice that it droped from a 2.509 to a 2.308 that is what is accounting for ur better times. i think u just had a better launch. i dont want to come off mean or anything here so dont bash me for this. i too have ordered the svt upper and hope that it will give me some better times at the track but from looking at ur time slips it looks to me like u just had a better launch. i have seen other stock cougars pull in a 60 ft time of 2.2 and 2.3.

I would have to agree for the most part...... The rule of thumb is that for every 1/10th you take off in your 60ft, it equals .2-.3 off your ET......
How long did you have the SVT stuff on your Coug before going to the track? When I had my headers installed, my 1/4 time only came down .1 the first time i went to the track.. but after several more trips to the track, i was able to take off another .3 with more practice and with allowing my ECU to learn the mod more..... MY car takes quite a while to learn mods....it isnt instantaneous like some people think their cars do........

Use your trap speed to gauge power improvements over ET. You showed a 2.xmph gain! that's good! Naturally, that can be due to a lot of things, such as atmospheric conditions, but all things being equal, the car with the higher trap would have more power.
The single best thing you can do to knock off et's is PRACTICE.
I know a close friend who drives a 4cy 2nd Gen Probe who has run 15.6 @ 87mph...(he dyno'd at 120whp). Point being, even low hp/tq cars (relatively) can be Quite capable in capable hands...
PRACTICE!!
PRACTICE!!
PRACTICE!!

Thats funny, I used to have a 2G four banger probe. The best I could do was 17 at 79 MPH. But I'm sure I didn't have more than 100 to the wheels.
Thats what I used for my crude HP gain measurement. I know my ET can be better, but the MPH should tell the tale.

You've still got a ways to go before 91mph:) When are we going racing?

I am not too far from 91mph! I ran a 15.364@89.06mph last weekend on a slow track!! I am going to go to no problem raceway and hope to be around 15 flat. I have heard that it is around 3 tens faster than State Capital. This is with SVT upper, monsterflow intake, borla and the mystery mod.

Yea I've heard. The bad thing is my et was 15.5. Your setup doesn't seem much different than ricci's. Don't tell him what the mystery modification is. I'd have to spend money on my car if he were faster than me.

Unfortunately, he was there and helped do the mystery mod! He is waitin on headers though!! He should be close to me just needs to work on his launch and shift points!
