With all the talk about a cold air induction system for the Cougars, I decided to try something a bit unusual. I eliminated the stock air box and bought a conical K&N part # rf-1025 trimmed the inside and slipped it over the stock MAF. Although I would recommend that anyone that does this put a heat shield behind the filter. Then pull the air bypass hose off the valve cover and replace it with a K&N crankcase breather filter. I don't remember the part #, but it has a 9/16" mounting flange. The difference can only be felt above 4000 rpm, but it cost about $60 to do and looks great. I'll try and get some pics together.

I did that 2 years ago on a friend's zx2. it looked great and made a difference in the way the car pulled

Ya, I was really impressed at the difference in pull. I can't seem to feel it in the lower range, but when the cams switch over and engine starts sucking major air, you can tell that the stock air box was definitely restricting flow. In fact I used to have a slight hesitation at about 3800 rpm that is now gone.
