I really want to do something to my headlights, I am just not sure what. There are a few different ways of going about this.

I could paint the inside of my headlights, but I am afraid that I will screw something up and end up having water get inside.

I have seen a few lights that seemed to be painted on the outside around the lights, kind of like the covers that go around the lights themselvs. Is it possible to paint them, or have them covered in vinyl?

Or would it just be easier to get the covers and have them painted?

dont do anything to the headlights. i think painting them brings too much attention to the headlight itself. let it blend in with the black trim on the cougar. they look best untouched. thats what i would do if i was you.

My lights are painted on the outside... and I think my car is the same color as yours if you need an example... I really like how it looks and I get lots of stares all the time..

Crispy, I would have to say that out of all the painted head lights I've seen your's look the best. Maybe it's the angle or something but damn it looks good. Personaly I wanna take mine apart and paint them, but now..........
Peace

Thanks...... that was dealer painted for $100.00 :) they did a great job of taping off...

I always wanted to pry the lights apart and get the insides painted but after reading months of horror stories on the people that had condensation problems I decided to take the paint route... If you don't want condensation or the permanent look of paint I would suggest vinyl then.. Maybe you can get the vinyl spray painted the same color as the car, cuz we all know there is no decal or vinyl that even comes close to Laser Red... Grrrrr :(

I painted my inner headlights and resealed them and went through the horrendous storms that rolled through Minnesota 3 or so weeks ago and never had a leak. I used a product from Permatex called "The Right Stuff". Its like 13 bucks a can but it is GREAT. One can will do both headlights and I love this stuff. Just clean the channels out really well, and then fill it again with the sealent. No leaks as of yet.

If you do them right and take your time they will seal back up and not leak. my lights have no condenstaion issues whatsoever. I love the look of my headlights and get the most compliments on them since I went this route.

That's just it Craig, I don't trust myself to do a good job. I would get bored and screw something up, but I would love the results. :)

Crispy, yours look awesome, I might just go get them painted...thank you again.

I like the look of the Lund covers too. I am getting the taillight covers and I will most likely paint them black, I personally think that red covers on the red taillights look silly. Maybe I will go with black on the front and back with black side markers. The front in black would match with my mini bra.

i spent like 4 hrs reassembling my lights just to make sure they were right. I gotta do it again next week b/c my car is getting redone in blue pearl so it will actually show up outside whereas my purple pearl fades into the silver unless under flourescent lighting

Fett, go with all black. That's what I have and I love it. I'm doing all the after market stuff on my laser red cat in black... h/t covers, hood scoop, gfx, visteon spoiler. Trust me, it looks sweet. THe pics on my site don't have the hood scoop or wing yet, but I should have pics within two weeks(I'm out of town)
