I've been hearing bits and pieces from MissionMetallica.com, but this is the first "complete" new song from it. All I can say is Holy. ****ing. ****.:bowdown:

As a fairly long time Metallica fan and guitar player, I feel that it can't possibly be worse than St.Anger.

Bob Rock is finally gone, Kirk decided not to be a douche and do guitar solos, they got rid of the damn baritone guitars, and James is once again responsible for lyrics.

That all being said, the other song they've played.... "death is not the end"? I like much better than the song above.

- BUT - Rich is totally right... nothing competes with Kill em All, Ride the Lightning (personal favorite), Master of Puppets, and AJFA.

The nice thing, is that in concert, 90% of their songs are the older ones... so I think they know that

If you've watched the "Fly on the Wall" clips online, the studio they used was covered in all kinds of "old" Metallica stuff, all "Pre-Black" stuff. Right above the door is a big "Sanitarium" sign. So they definitely feel like they need to go back to their older style.

And yes, that "Death is not the End" song was very good.

As a fairly long time Metallica fan ( sorry ND4SPD), I've gotta say I liked St. Anger... as not a metallica CD. It was interesting, something a little different, and a lot more progressive then their other music. However, in the sense that it was a Metallica CD - :puke:

Kill 'Em All and Master of Puppets were easily two of my favorite CDs of all time. Sanatarium and Battery being my favorite two songs.

In 7th grade I worked as concessions for Aramark at the Veterens Stadium JUST so I got to go to Summer Sanatarium for free. Didnt' get paid or anything, but they let me leave after Linkin Park and it turned out a guy I knew was there with a Pit band. He ended up giving it to me because he felt he was too old for the pit :goofy: greatest night of my life. Actually, I remember Deftones and Mudvayne were really good too.

Ah! bingo... I never really knew how to explain it before, but yes, that works for me!
It was okay, but it was not okay that Metallica made it. :goofy:

St. Anger blew hard. I almost stopped listening to metallica altogether, at least this new stuff is better. I've been listening to metallica since I was born in dads '79 trans am *damn those have great in-car acoustics I've heard its the trunk compression*

But this IS like their older stuff. It's a lot like Kill 'Em All, IMO.

This album is great though, I'm really liking it.

I was mildly impressed until I got to "Suicide & Redemption". Then I actually stopped the work I was doing and just sat there listening. By far my favorite song on the album - I am a huge fan of their instrumentals, and while its no where near my all time favorite (Orion), its definitely got a great rhythm to it.

It is a decent album. I am sure it will grow on me the more I listen to it (bought it on friday). The only tracks that really stand out for me are 4 and 7. And I still hate Lars drums.
