Crossing the boarder back was interesting... the young kid working said i was "randomly" selected for inspection. My first thought was "oh man, they are going to **** themselves when they see this..." So i pulled in, and the guy just asked "did you stop at duty free?" "....no" I said, and he just said "okay! pull out to the left... have a good day".

whatever... I was totally prepared. I had receipts for EVERYTHING on the car, and wasn't carrying anything other than car stuff, so I was never worried, but I'm happy to be back in my native land now :)

My flight got back to Tampa at 1pm....sister and Mom picked me up and we went to the mall. Got home and had to go pick up my car and then layed down on the couch and craaaaaaaaaaaashed! A three hour nap! I couldn't believe it. Then I had corned beef, carrots, celery and potatoes for dinner...as my welcome back meal! And turtle pie tonight for Army Wives!

It was so good seeing everyone and I miss you guys already!

Glad everyone made it safely. I took my time, as I was EXTREMELY tired after a night of excessive drinking and then staying up til 5:30am... Cleaned the house, unpacked, and spent the rest of the night relaxing and catching up on the DVR -- didn't even touch the computer last night.

Finally made it home.. official leaving time was 9:30AM, official arrival time 11:54PM. no major issues.. except for my day running relay (R1 under the hood fuse box) got loose. and everyone thought my car was going to explode on the road.. ppl where stopping me, waving frantically at me.. they where like all your lights are flickering, of course there doing this while driving.. yelling at me through my window. lol

other then that everything went well.. sorry for leaving earlier then all the other canadians.. would have been nice to be part of the caravan. but couldn't risk getting home at like 3-4ish in the morning.

yeah, I felt so bad about having to leave early too, but Ottawa is just too damn far away to be able to leave late and caravan.

I really regret not being able to say one last goodbye to everyone. I miss you all so much already. Everyone that can, better come to the Hamillfest meet in September! :)

oddly enough, the drive overall was totally uneventful until I was about 100 miles from home. I was on I-84 in the Columbia Gorge, Oregon side with cliffs to the south side and the Columbia river (and washington) to the north. So, pretty much, you are stuck on the freeway with very few pulloffs or other routes. I see a little bit of smoke and didn't think much of it. A few miles further, and there's a reader board saying the freeway was closed down for a 20 mile section because of the wild fire. so it diverts all the traffic off the freeway and across a little bridge that crosses the river and dumps you onto a rural 2 lane highway on the washington side of the river. Between sitting on the freeway waiting to go across the river, and the extra time it took taking the washington side highway (which was hands down the most scenic drive of the entire trip), it took about 2 extra hours to get home :(
