Not a DRIVING story but still. short story.
We want to get some stone chips and a dent in the bumper fixed so we went to 2 body shops.
One quoted us at $200 ... just to basically touch up the hood and he said he wont do the bumper or the key mark along the side... lol wow
The other, said he would fix the scratches on the hood and front bumper and the scratches on the rear bumper and fix the dent on it, and then repaint the bumpers and hood to match the car for about $900 or so, which is looking like the best deal right now.
ALSO, he offered to buy the car for 9 grand! I would make 3 grand profit or so if I sold it to him.

I am happy with my Zn though because there are no other ones of this kind anywhere. You cant find these in my city so I will be buying something more common.
And I need the slush box lol.... for other family use I mean since I am not the only one driving it.
I was joking around saying that we should sell it though. But the only other car I would get is a 2003 Tiburon because that is a car I;ve always wanted and will probably get some day, but I am liking our Porche designed engine :P

seems like a reasonable deal paintjobs complete are roughly $250 for a bumper repair and repaint
figure (at my work anyways) body shop rate $48 an hour + materials
fix the dent in the bumper (depending on size) prolly an hour, hour1/2 ($72)
paint the bumper prolly get 4 hours prep and paint (but does not take that long at all... *****es...) $192-ish i suck at math... so thats like $264 for the back bumper, front bumper scratches and repaint total prolly like 5 hours, thats like another $230 ish, so $500 for the bumpers, hour to fix the hood (unless you could settle with them being sanded and buffed ud save some money, if u dont mind minor scratches still that is) then prolly another 4 to paint and blend the hood so thats like another 230ish so $730 plus paint, materials, hazardous waste removal(they really charge for that...) so it probably goes over 900 with all that, i dunno if body shop labor rates are cheaper where you live but, id say that 900 is a pretty good deal, and they usually wash the car after too :P a clean car is better when you dont have to do it :)

He said he would regularly charge about $1,500 for the job, but we were bargaining with him.
And I am wondering how this Cougar will finally look without me having to see the dent in the back and the stone chips and key mark along the side... priceless? lol

****. Sell it and pick up another. Actually, give that guy my number.
Just remember you get what you pay for. That guy gave you a cheaper quote for a reason. Just get it in writing and make sure you get an agreement about the paint matching and some kind of warranty.

K so we got the car back.
He did a GREAT job on the rear bumper with the big dent. It looks like new, He repainted it and the colour now matches the car better than the stock colour.
But the key mark on the door and the stone chips .... I could have done better with a touch up pen I think.
