And yea I know this probly belongs in the interior section but while I was painting I figured I'd just go ahead and paint the air vents too... I think they came out pretty good!

Nice work! How does the light look through them?

for as dark as they look in the pics, you can still see them pretty good, I only put about two coats of the candee blk and they came out like that so I stopped there. I'll try to get some night pics if I get an extra min....

looks very good. as long as the tails show through when you use your lights or hit your brakes you're golden.

If your lights need to be brighter buy some lights from SUPER BRIGHT LEDS home (http://superbrightleds.com/) or another site with good LEDs.

I'm not hating on these tails... but did you just spray black paint over your tails? it looks good but i would hate to hear that the paint started to peel off. also i think you should put some clear coat on them.

dude this isn't my first time painting.... lol

I prepped...wet sanding. cleaning all and if you read above I put like five clear coats on... seriously. I mean I did take the pics w/ a cell phone so if they look dull; possibly due to the lower pic quality... but eh ur call.

ok *edit* lol I just looked and I guess I didn't say about the clear coats....

but anyway the stuff I used is "Dupli-color Clear Top Coat"

looks alright on your car, but way too dark for my liking.

Looks great! What kind of paint did you use?
I've been going back and forth with buying the covers and painting them or just painting the tails like you did. Like was said earlier I'd love to see some night pics to get an idea of brightness.

You should do the third brake light to match.

But yeah...that's dark. A ticket waiting to happen if you ask me.

Too dark in my opinion and the way to get the best results with tinted tails is by using this method.

1) clean tails with warm soapy water and then dry
2) scuff lights with #0000 steel wool
3) apply 2 very light coats of night shades spray tint
4) allow 24 hrs to fully dry
5) repeat steel wool to tinted surface
6) have cleared professionally by a body shop
7) have shop wetsand and buff

They will look like glass and will look like factory smoked lenses. The quality of spray on clear is not even close and by wetsanding and buffing all the orangepeel gets knocked down and the surface is totally flat giving the best reflection of light.
