Yes it can. If you do a search here in the transmission section you will come up with a good amount of info. Good luck :)

It can be done. HIGHLY doubt it can be done cheaper.

There are lots o f parts to keep track of. The easiest way is to find a car with a blown motor, or one that's been in a rear-impact accident, and use it as a donor car, pulling used parts as needed.
If you were to buy all the parts separately, the cost would be astronomical. WAY more than a wrecked Cougar would cost.

Right... If you can get a parts Cougar for under $1500.00, thenit would be the BEST way to go... plus get a new clutch kit, and make sure the axles are in good shape... Still would be cheaper than the ATX replacement, IMO...

its a money pit!
back away, unless you've owned the car for 9 years and have some unexplainable sexual fascination with your car... then its simply not worth the work. you would be MUCH better off trading your car for the equivalent mtx

I paid Aircougar to do mine for about the same price as my ATX rebuild was. Havent had one problem so for me it was def worth it. Not a money pit by any means.

the difference between your situation and 99% of people that ask this question is that you had to spend this money eitherway to fix things, and you were smart enough to hand it over to one of the few people that can make this swap look as easy as an oil change.
but basic parts list
tranny - 450-750?
front subframe - ?
mxt axle - 65 min
maybe some wiring bits
pedal assembly
that clutch hose thing
flywheel
clutch
new throwout bearing
and since your doing this, you might as well throw in a LSD, you know since your there already so add another 600
might as well do the slick shift forks, which is what? 200?
updated shift tower
etc
etc
etc
and god forbid if you find out your missing a few bolts or odds and ends.
seriously man, unless you have a heavy amount already invested in the car [work you couldnt just transfer over to a mtx cougar], its simply not worth it.
