Since I was a kid I've always had a fascination with severe storms, mainly tornadoes. I've been watching these guys for quite some time, and they really are some of the best tornado chasers out there. Thought you guys might enjoy this vid. ;)

Oh yeah, they're gonna be on the new season of "Storm Chasers" on the Discover Channel later this fall. ;)

Come to the Midwest Bobby....you'll get your fill of all the Storms that you could ever want.
A few weeks ago a Tornado took the roof off of a furniture store that is less than a half a mile from my apartment...and yep I was sitting in my apartment when it happened (of course I didn't know it until they reported it on the TV)

Yea I love severe storms too. Same with my dad, but since he's a firefighter he also has to go out in them when one strike a house/tree/pole.
When I was 14 I was watching a storm from my window and lightning hit a transformer in front of my house. The explosion was so bright I was temporarily blinded for about 5 minutes and could only see white. Kinda scary.

I'm pumped, we have a chance of thunderstorms today. We've had 3 days of 34-36 C heat which could make for a nice violent one.

I <3 Bad Weather! No, really, I enjoy being able to sit outside during a good thunderstorm. Call me crazy but I'm hoping for a low category hurricane to come thru this summer. We were in Pensacola during and after hurricane Ivan. It was awesome in several ways...the wind, the rain, the thunder and lightning. No power for 9 days after was kind of like camping...good times.

No power for 9 days in Florida might be ok.....I had to deal with no power for 7 days in Missouri in January after a huge ice storm....not good times:tongue:

I love storm watching, but don't always have the time to do it.
It's rare that we get a really good thunderstorm rolling through.
What's nice about it is even though all that rain ruins your outdoor plans, it still gives you something cool to watch and pass the time, so sometimes it's forgiveable.
lol
We had a pretty hairy near miss when I was very young. A bolt hit a tree near our house, and it barely missed the house when it fell.

On another note....has anyone ever seen a thunderstorm from an airplane? I was headed home from Portland from a business trip and I was on a flight from Dallas to Springfield Missouri. It was about 10:30 at night and the pilot said that to the right would be a huge thunderstorm.
There were only about 13 people on the plane and as I looked around no one was watching it....it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The lightning was so cool seeing it from that level.

That would kick ass, and no, I haven't.

I've been captivated with storm chasing since I was a kid.
we took a family vacation driving through TN IIRC, and my dad refused to pull over to wait out the storm... eitherway, AMAZING sight, at one point I was watching 7 simultanious tornadeos touching down around us.
Eitherway I have a standing request at work that the next big hurrican that I will be flying down to wait-it-out/drink with my buddy in NC.

It's rare that we get a really good thunderstorm rolling through.
The past week has been pretty good. I was up again last night to hear the one rolling through at 3am.
Still waiting for a decent hurricane to come through here.
Severe weather rocks. Though if it came too often I might be sick of it ... it is rare enough here that it is enjoyable each time.

more of a "storm runner" anytime a storm comes around we high tail it into town, also get calls from two different places when lightning strikes within 100miles of work site.
because it would suck to be 300feet up a tower when lightning and high winds in the area!!

The only differance with that and the storm I watched was that with mine it wasn't as cloudy so you could really see more of the lightning and the bolts going across the sky....it was very cool.

when you see the clouds above your head start to swirl, it isn't a "oh man is that COOL!" feeling. It is more of a "oh S%*&!, I better find a safe place to be....and the car too". Honestly when I have seen that happen it is one of the more unnerving feelings I have had.

Yes, I love storms... I love evertything... I'm one of those losers who probably watched more Tornado videos than I do regular TV.
Honestly if you find my video "stash" you'll find an excellent collection of asian porn (you know you have that too)... and right next to it is my collection of storm chaser videos...
quality...

We had a wicked Super storm yesterday. 19 mph, and zero visibility with wipers on high. Check out the pics Downpour leaves Lethbridge in state of emergency (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2008/07/01/lethbridge-storm.html)

I saw lighting inside of a HUGE thunderhead on my plane flight to my first CF. It was pretty cool.

If you search around you can sometimes find Volcanic Lightning pictures or videos. During an Eruption, the ash cloug creates so much friction, that the charge gets released in crazy lightning inside the clouds.
It's kinda cool if you've never seen it...
